Hi everyone..

with my taxes done, I have some extra cash for another pistol..

whats an reasonable glock 17 prices?

I have some shops selling from $549, others have it at $575 and some even at $620 for an bone stock gen 3 glock..

the cheapest I seen for gen 3 is $549 with 3 mags.. or should I opt for the gen 4 instead? the gen 4's are $50 dollars more and it comes with 3 mags also..

any particular reasons for the gen 4's over the gen 3's?

Unless your law enforcement or do a SSE (single shot exemption), you wont be getting a Gen 4 Glock because they are NOT on the CA approved list. With everything going on in this country, $549 sounds very reasonable for a Gen 3 Glock.

Don't forget the transfer fee/background check.

I slightly overpaid for a G17 but it also came with a couple rebuild kits, so the price slightly evened out.

With a lot of guns being sold out right now, I believe anything under $600 is a decent price w/mags. Try and ask for any extras, ammo etc.

If you buy a lot of guns from one ffl they will give you a break on extras

550 with 2 mags was pretty standard pre panic price for civilians so if you can get a G3 with 3 mags at 550 I would do it.

I assume because of the 3 mags that these must be blue label glocks and that you are an exempt person of some sort and that is why you have access to G4's too.

Unless you really need the interchangeable backstraps or the reversible magazine release I'd just stay with a G3

an mate of mine purchased one today for about $600 otd with taxes and fees.

I might have to go back tomorrow and pick one up.. Love my p226's but always wanted an glock..

I saw a Glock 35 Gen 3 in an LA gun shop for $750. Retail is around $600. What kind of markup are you guys seeing?

I'm seeing around the $620 for an glock 17,glock 19..

the cheapest I seen is $549 for glock 17..

the glock 34 I saw today was about $650 before taxes and fees.

I would endeavor to say anything below $600 before taxes and DROS is reasonable. For awhile, it seemed that new Glocks were actually cheaper than used Glocks; a deal might be had if you look carefully.

Gen 4 offers a neat new recoil spring system, ambidextrous mag release, and a modular back strap system. Depending on where you go, Gen 4's will command a slightly higher price, but most shops will charge $50+ for SSE.

Oh yeah, and I really enjoy my Glock 17 Gen 3!

yeah, but you can get them through SSE... so the option of gen 4 is not ruled out

benefits of the new recoil springs are negligible for 9mm. Shot both gen 3 and gen 4 with eyes closed and I can't feel a difference.

Although you can definitely feel the difference in a 40

I'm a USPSA shooter and from what I have gathered from the Enos Forum and Glock forums....I would stay with the Gen 3 Glock 17's. I have handled the Gen 4's and I would just go with the Gen 3 17's. I have two Glocks and they are both Gen 3's. I passed on a Gen 4 17 based on reviews.

But thats just me........

Personally, I prefer the Gen 4s on how they feel (ability to change backstrap). Having said that.. not enough to pay the extra a SSE would cost over a Gen 3. All my ergonomic issues are pretty much resolved with the GripForce Beavertail adapter. I have palms on the larger side, so I might be a different case compared to you and many others.

Was offered a deal to order/buy a Gen 4 19 for $672 OTD from an SSE FFL in San Diego,
but lucked into a Gen 3 19 at my LGS in W.LA for $681 OTD and took it. I think it was tagged at $599.

I was up in Simi and Tim at Ft. Courage was selling the same for $550 but was only getting stocked sporadically.

I haven't seen any 17's in the shops I frequent but scored a Gen 2 + extras here for $600.

Glockmeister has the Gen 3 17 for $499 with a twelve week lag time.

I don't see the value in chasing down a Gen 4 but what do I know.
