    9mm ammo prices?

I know ammo has been in short supply for months, and I admit it's been awhile since I've done any comparison shopping, but...

I stopped by an Ammo Bros today and was surprised to see that they had plenty of Remington 9mm 115 gr. FMJ on the shelves, but only in boxes of 500 rounds each. Then I saw the price - $400. That's 80 cents a round! Last year you could buy that stuff any day of the week for 30 cents or less per round. Sheesh! While I was standing there another guy walked up and commented on the ridiculous prices, then proceeded to buy a $400 box.

Is 80 cents a round the going rate for basic 9mm ammo these days, assuming you can find any?

That just plain nuts. I think I've occassionally seen some in the deals section at various online retailers for about $.40 to $.45 cents a round. Which is about double what it was last year if you buy bulk. So $.80 cents a round is basically double the current market which is double from last year.

that's my observation. If I really needed to shoot a box of 9mm and didn't have any or didn't want to break into my reserves I'd spend $.50 cents a round max to get couple of boxes to shoot, but no way in hell I'd spend .80 cents a round. You can find cheaper ammo at a shooting range.

No, that is highway robbery. I have just started shooting this year, and even at that I refuse to pay anything higher than $0.40/round. I have collected a good reserve of 9mm ammo without breaking over $20/box. The deals are there you just have to have a sharp eye.

.80 cents per is why they have plenty on the shelves... That price caters to the lazy and desperate.

$10.00 / 50 box is my benchmark for comparison price…. Ammo has gone up at common retailers and people seem to be accepting $15-$20 box as a price willing to stomach.

              No

Its not the going rate, but if a store wants to keep something in inventory they have to skyrocket the price or its gone - simple.

This ^. $.80 is out of control. I wouldn't pay that for .223/5.56... Being a member of firing line gets you bags of 50 9mm at $.30 a round. Even non member prices are reasonable compared to that.

I just found 2 boxes of Hornady Critical Defense in 9mm that I thought was a deal at 23.95 each. But I agree, I would not pay the $50 that they are asking on the internet for a 50 rnd box. I keep looking every week at several stores, but so far all I have found is the Hornady, no practice ammo. At least .223 is becoming more available.

Cabela's sold 9mm today for .39 delivered, I have gotten it at Walmart several times in the last few weeks at about .25 OTD.

I got lucky my wife and daughter just happen to be shopping Walmart and what do you know ammo being carted in and 3 value packs later. Ammo is available at a reasonable price.

This is the only reason why I'm shooting .40 now. It's the cheapest ammo out there. I'm not willing to shell out the money for 9mm these days.

just bought 2x100 round Winchester white box 9mm from Turners today for $74 total at lunch... 37cents per round... that's about as high I'd go.

Turner's had Blazer Brass 9mm for $16.99 a box of 50 this week. Not great but I guess better than .80cent a rd.
