There is a chance that the current SSE laws will be gone by Jan 1 2014, so to ensure the gun is CA legal it needs to be registered before that date.

I'll update this with pictures as they become available and answer any questions people might have about why I picked Harp Custom.

He makes a video of the whole build. He also posts lots of things to his youtube channel so i'm assuming stuff will end up there.
I'll also have a very rough gun at one point to do a "before" picture book with.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but this is a relatively long term project.

Any updates? I just sent Troy an order and intial payment for a 5" build and 2holsters (1 iwb, 1 owb). Your "year" is about half over and mine is just begining. The good news is that I'm no longer a Cal res and won't have as many hoops to jump through.

Also, just out of curiosity, what did you base your decision on when choosing a basically unknown custom builder from BFE Kansas to build a $4K gun? I grew up (so to speak) about 45 minutes from Troy's shop, so please be kind with the Dorthy & Toto jokes.

Troy does some good work. I also like his youtube videos, very informative.

$4K is not bad for a full custom build if you didn't need to supply the base gun. Sounds like he's getting a raw slide/frame?

Affirmative. My build is starting with a Caspian slide and frame with a mix of C&S, WC, Kart etc. Troy will work on customer supplied iron as well. Pistol smithing is a not his main business though, he runs http://www.brigadegunleather.com/ full time. The dudes a verified workaholic.

Edit: Oops, sorry. I'm not trying to hijack your thread Laythor.
