There will be a Factory Glock armorer with plenty of parts. He will look at your gun for FREE and may repair/upgrade any parts that need replacing. More than likely he won't even charge you for the parts. You don't even have to be participating in the match.

I didn't see how bad the damage was when I first looked at the pic. Now that I see it's more serious. If your in SOCAL, I still would go to the GSSF match and have them look at it. If anything, it'll save you money from having to ship the slide to the factory. They can take it back to the factory when the return back to home base @ the factory after the match.
I would also take it to the factory rep. I went through a Glock armorers course and they are always interested in their gun failures. I would be very surprised if they did not fix it for free.

BTW- it looks like metal fatigue. The instructor of the course told us that you could dry fire glocks as much as you wanted. It would not hurt the gun.

I've been reloading for awhile, since I was eleven years old. But I'll be the first to tell you, it doesn't matter how much experience you have or how long you've been doing it. All it takes is one distraction, and you can have some pretty exciting consequences

Thanks for the info..I'm up in Northern Cal, but I might wait until GSSF comes up this way. Don't they have a match at Richmond once a year during the summer?

Spoken like a man who knows his way around a reloading bench.

And I really can't imagine how the force of the striker, no matter how repeated, could do that kind of damage to the slide (unless the metal was already somehow compromised in first place).

If you search the interweb long enough, you'll find freakish failures in pretty much all guns, of all makes and models. They are, after all, machines. And this particular failure in a Glock is rare enough to attract attention. Although I'm a huge fan of Glocks, I partake in neither the koolaid nor the haterade that seems prevalent on gunboards. False dichotomy, really, and the kind of thinking that really adds nothing of merit to a discussion.

I will take a wild guess.

Could it be breach face erosion caused by primer flow???

you are absolutely right. no gun is immune to defect, KB, or other malfunctions. but the area glocks also exceed in (on top of reliability) is ironically the amount of reported malfunctions. i am not talking about repeated incidents; i am talking about individual reports and firsthand experiences in which often chamber tolerances and overall build quality come into question.

yes, you can easily attribute some of these incidents to poorly loaded ammo or improperly serviced pistol. but what about everything else? they also KB with commercially loaded ammo and can break under normal, inadverse shooting conditions. this seems to be prevalent with glocks...

Waldo - someone has a similar problem with their Glock, though no quite as severe as yours. See link below:

Hope you can get Glock to replace your slide for free.

                        MKE,

Thanks for that link! That officer's experinece was exactly like mine, and those pictures looked like my problem until the metal peeled away from the breechface.

I'll register on that site and try to find out how he resolved the problem..
