    MC Operator Magazines

I get to pick my Operator pretty soon here and have been searching to find some good mags for it. I was planing to just buy some Wilson 47ds but have read a couple posts on the web about the mag failing to lock the slide back, and the Wilson ETM mags work a bit better. Ive also heard good things about the CMC Power mags and Tripp research, anyone have an mc operator with any of these mags that can tell me which they prefer?

Congrats on the new MC Operator.
I used to have Wilson Combat ETM's http://www.midwayusa.com/product/720...tainless-steel they worked horrible for me. It couldve been a batch of bad mags but at every other round it would fail to feed. I swapped them out for Chip McCormick Power Plus 10 mags
    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/178...eel?cm_vc=U112 these worked flawless.
Then i got tired of the 10 round look and currently using Chip McCormick Power plus 8 round mags
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/566...tainless-steel and they also function flawless.
    Enjoy your new Operator!
Are you swapping out the grips or keepin those?

Shoot the gun before you start spending money on accessories.

          CMC 8 round PowerMags.

My suggested upgrades for the MC are

          Alexander magwell
          10-8 rear sight
          grip tape on front strap
          VZ or Larry Davidson grips

          ammo + range time

Initially, I bought 3 47ds for my MC. I, also, bought a few ETMs afterwards. No problems on either type of magazines.

I am planning to put a magwell in the future. Nighthawk magwell with a VZ grip combination is what I have been thinking. But, in the end, it isn't a priority as the MC is solid platform on its own.

              Love mine.

The chief also brings up a good point.

im definetly spending my money on ammo to send a bunch of rounds before i get any new gun accessories other then mags, after mags im going after a nice holster, but the two 7 rounders arent enough and want some quality mags for this quality gun

All 1911s are different when it comes to mags, you can have 2 MC Ops made the same day and one will like CMC and one Wilson. Generally it's trial and error, but chances are you will be fine with either one. Of the 5 1911s I currently own and the several ones I use to own the only mags that consistently worked with every gun were the Tripp Cobra mags.

There is so much varying information out there, even when you look at opinion from those with the same model 1911 that you have.

What I ended up doing was buying a pair of ETMs and Tripp Cobra mags (you could just buy one of each) and test them out. I'm still in the middle of forming an opinion on both, but both brands are quality and haven't really given me a issue yet.

This is a problem unique to 1911s. When I buy a new one I brake it in using a collection of different mags to see its likes and dislikes.
Here is a pic of my Desert Warrior along with all the mags I used on its first trip to the range. It liked them all except for the GI colt mags.

Mags in the pile...Wilson ETM & 47d, Tripp, CMC, Kimber, Remington, Colt.

Tripp Cobra magazines are the best out there. Hands down, bar none.

My Operator runs well with Wilson ETMs. Haven't tried any others aside from the GI mags that came with it, no issues with those either.

mine likes Wilson 47Ds and any CMC mag, other than those 2 I have not tried any others.

funny thing, I had 2 coworkers, all 3 of us had MC operators and both of the other guys operators did not like Wilson combat mags
