    PMC UltraMag .38 Special

I was doing an ammo inventory this morning and came across 2 boxes of PMC UltraMag in .38 Special.

I do have a .38 revolver that I use for HD and carry.

Question is would you use this ammo or just keep it as a collectable?
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Is that the tubular 66gr stuff? If so, keep it for the zombie end times. There are better self/home defense rounds and the tubular is better for coring tires, etc.

      Yeah it's totally tubular.

I'm sorry I just had to.

ATF has listed the following rounds as AP ammo:

All KTW, ARCANE, and THV ammo.

German made 9mm Para. with steel core.
MSC .25 ACP with brass bullet.
BLACK STEEL armor and metal piercing ammunition.
        7.62mm NATO AP and SLAP.
PMC ULTRAMAG with brass bullet (but not copper).
OMNISHOCK .38 Special with steel core.

I don't know. How do you tell?

            EDIT:

I just did some research and found that I do have the copper model. The copper model says 38J and that's what I have. Thanks for that info I had no idea there were 2 different types of this ammo.

I never had any luck with that stuff in either of the snubbies I had at the time. Single-action I was shooting 2" groups at 25ft with standard wadcutter ammo and I don't think I could put 5 rounds of the UltraMag into 12" with either of the guns.

I'd look for an ammo collector.
