    holster for Front Sights training

I'm going to be signing up for the 4 day handgun coarse at front Sights and have no experience with holsters. I would like to stay with leather but am open to all suggestions. I will be taking a Sig 226 and a CZ SP-01.

Just remember that they do not allow the Serpa holsters with the retention device. If you must bring it, they will disable the retention device.

Also, you will want a stiff holster. If the holster slows you down in insertion/extraction then you could lose points in the timed skills test.

While not leather, the Blade-Tec holsters & IDPA kits are highly recommended.
You will need a good belt, likely 1.5" or wider and a coat or windbreaker that can cover the holster for the concealment training. Something with a zip front and pockets that you can keep your keys in will be most useful, a little extra weight helps you move to your sidearm. Plastic or leather, look for something that will stay exactly where you put it so you can find it by memory.

Get plastic much quicker draw and reholster. Blade-Tec is all you need. As stated get a good belt.

I used an Uncle Mike's Tactical Kydex paddle holster. As stated above your weapon will be going in/out of the holster many times, so a hard holster and good belt is a must.

Uncle Mikes Kydex is what I used. For $20 its a great deal.
They sell Blade Tech in the Pro-Shop for $40-50 if you need it. They have the common sizes (Glock, XD, 1911) in stock so they may not carry one for the CZ.

Don't forgot a two or three magazine holster for the weak side. It's a absolute must too.

When did they make that rule? I took a class in 2006 and used one.

I've been through the handgun class with both the Blade kydex and Fobus holsters. They both work fine. Their instructions say do not bring a Serpa holster but, as mentioned previously, they will disable the locking device and you can remove it later.

Be sure to post a report when you get back!

All they do is put a piece of paper under the locking device if you do show up with that holster.

in the last couple years when it seemed that half of their NDs had Serpas in the mix.

I've used the Uncle Mike's "tactical" holster with quite a bit of success and these are quite inexpensive. I think these are "plastic" rather than "Kydex" but it doesn't matter a hill of beans for training.

I've also used an old semi-cheap nylon holster because that was the only OWB holster I had or could find for the back-up pistol I was using. (I have 1st class shoulder and IWB holsters for this gun but not OWB.) Worked fine for me, but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have lots of experience with holsters.
