Hi all. I did a search for something like this and found related discussion of "unpaid" tickets but no mention of new tickets. I have a pistol on order, has not come into the shop yet. I got a speeding ticket today and intend on paying ASAP. Can anyone speak to whether this case of bad timing might affect the DROS in what will likely be 3 weeks from now? Thanks in advance.

It won't affect DROS at all, don't worry about it.
And slow down!

Silly question probably, are unpaid tickets, tickets that are overdue or just tickets that are still in process but not overdue, as in my case?
BTW, I caught a helluva break. 75 in a 65, could have been 80 in a 50 and a construction zone!
I didn't even realize the speed until the officer was 5 feet from my rear view mirror and I looked at the the speedo!

Unpaid as in you don't show up/pay the bail on the due date on the courtesy notice. If you FTA they'll issue a bench warrant.
I've heard of a couple instances where DMV/ticket issue have delayed DROS.
If it makes you feel any better, I purchased a handgun and on the same day I got a parking ticket. Picked up my firearm after the 10 day wait with no problem or delay.Comment

Same thing happened to me last week. Got a speeding ticket on the ONE day I rent a car to drive to the gun shop to start DROS. Haven't driven a car in like three months. I was just going with traffic, too. After I got pulled over, I drove the rest of the way doing the speed limit and people were honking at me and flying by me. The speed limits are crazy slow in CA. 65 in the middle of nowhere?! Lame. I miss the 75mph limits where I used to live.Comment

An unpaid fine that is not yet overdue doesn't even show up on a record check as it's not been officially adjudicated. Only if you have unpaid fines that result in a bench warrant, then you have a problem."Those who fear your guns do so because they know they are guilty of things for which they should be shot"Comment

I drive over 800 miles a week in SoCal and I find it actually difficult to get a ticket here over Washington DC area. Unless I'm going over 20 mph OVER the speed limit, CHP is usually blowing my doors off as they pass.Same thing happened to me last week. Only place you'll get a ticket for sure is off the 15 on the CA side of the border going to Vegas. Major speed trap coming down the hill to the NV border."Those who fear your guns do so because they know they are guilty of things for which they should be shot"Comment

What about other dmv fees? Like unpaid registration on a car that wasn't running and I sold? I actually forgot about it till they sent me a notice of turning it over to the franchise tax board. It's like 250 bucks, but I want to look into matters before I pay.Comment

I would think that if the end of your DROS wait is prior to the hearing date on the ticket, they won't even know about it. At this point, it is an infraction that has not yet gone to trial. I don't think I would pay it until the last minute - paying a ticket is the same as admitting guilt. Never know there the records will wind up at that point and the DOJ could put a hold "in order to clarify the situation".Last edited by Aldemar; 04-18-2013, 12:23 PM.AL
