32-20

I saw a nice modern Dan Wesson 32-20 today. I have an old Colt in that caliber but never shoot it and only have a single box of ammo for it. Looks like the ammo is kind of pricey but then what the heck - what ammo isn't these days.

Would there be a difference in the ammo I might use in an old DA colt vs a modern Dan Wesson? I like odd guns but this one might be a little too odd for my liking? Anyone got any comments on the 32-20 caliber I'd sure like to learn more - off to google.

It's an old black powder cartridge. It's a .32 caliber bullet followed by 20 grains of black powder. The ammo would be the same for either gun. Though I'm not sure what kind of powder they are using to load this cartridge today.

I know the DW 32-20 you are talking about. It's nice, but I've resisted the urge to buy it (I bought something more practicle - Glock 21).

With the Dan Wesson, you can load it to the max pressures. The 32-20 was loaded to higher pressures for the rifles. The DW can handle the heavier loads. After all, the frame in the DW is deisgned to handle the 357 Mag.

I would not use heavy loads in the old Colt SAA. Keep the heavy loads for the Dan Wesson.
