Loaded magazine and an empty chamber on my Sigma in a bedside safe, fully loaded cylinder on my revolver in a holster attached to my bed. Revolver provides "one round now" capability, Sigma is a bullet hose for a more extended fight. Opening the safe and racking the pistol gives me a couple of seconds to "get my head straight" and ready to face the more complex situation where I'd use the Sigma.

Tlr2 on pistol. One in chamber and ten in magazine clip. In a holster no safety.

AR15 is loaded with one in chamber and ten more in the magazine clip in the safe. AR has a tlr1-hp.

Remington 870 with one in chamber, six in the tube, and four in a side saddle. Surefire g3 and same single point sling as the AR.

GF shoots a 1911, its got a mag in with 10 rounds. Nothing in the chamber and safety off (actually disabled by me). Do not believe in safeties...

fully loaded mag installed, nothing in the chamber, mounted laser for quick aiming, second fully loaded mag on standby within the mini gun vault that I store my firearm in.

shotgun in the walk in closet, mag tube loaded, sidesaddle maxed out with 00buck, nothing in the chamber, TLR-1 mounted and ready to light up the house.

I'm not usually paranoid about such things but I can see a lawyer bringing this up if you ever had to shoot someone. You circumvented a safety feature on a weapon. In today's litigious society everything is fair game. Just saying....

Anyway, I have my S & W Sigma loaded with one in the chamber ready to go with two spare mags and a Mossberg 500 Cruiser loaded with an empty chamber so I can rack the slide.

So this thread got me wondering about leaving a magazine loaded for my Glock 17. Some people have said that leaving the clips loaded damages the spring and/or follower. Is there any truth to this? I have a new G17 but leave it unloaded due to worries about damaging a magazine from extended periods of time under tension. Thanks

The 1911 safety is so quick to switch off; why would anyone disable a safety? Disabling a firearm safety = really really dumb.

Both of my 1911s when made ready have a full mag, one in the chamber, are cocked and have the safety on.

Switching off it's safety can be done as you're acquiring your target because the 1911's ergonomics are utterly perfect.

"Cocked and locked" is how the genius John Browning designed what has become the world's best semi auto pistol design so that a cavalryman drawing his sidearm while on a galloping horse wouldn't shoot himself or the horse.

No, it's more damaging for you to load and unload a magazine then it is to keep it loaded.

You know what they say about opinions. And the 1911 she Hassan often wanders its way onto safe. I have a small piece of plastic wedged in between frame and saftey plunger. Can be removed in less than 1 second. Not worried at all.

And yes my 870 sits loaded off the safety.

AR is one safety I dont actually mind. Its thought out and easy to manipulate.

We spend a lot of time and effort training every couple weeks. Both of us have run into issues with various guns and their safeties.

She will be replacing her 1911 with and xdm9 for that very reason. Im not against the 1911 just very against the idea and implementation of them. Why would a gun with a grip safety need another? Its stupid.

And until I can a install the larger plunger on my 870 its staying the way it is.

You guys are hilarious though... your so worried about clean vs unclean shoots. I bet you all use a different hollow point and not one used by your local PD or sheriffs... guess what your open to civil liability because your using evil hollow points more deadly than what police use... *rollseyes*

Clean shoot or it isnt. There is and has never been a middle ground. Remember these words "I was in fear of my life so I took the means necessary to protect myself".

For women the 1911 does not have perfect ergonomics. .. in fact for must guys it doesn't either, I shoot better with xdm or sigs than I ever did with a 1911. Yes even 3500 dollar safe queens. Cools guns none the less...

I go horseback riding all the time, never shot a horse or myself with a xdm or my sigs... and my sig was an SAO with the safety off.

Also please understand im not trying to push my beliefs on others... just offering what I am doing.... interestingly I learned a lot of this from my buddies who are local sheriff's.

Doesnt mean they are right, but all of them hate safetys especially on the 870.

Also magazine clip was from that hilarious anti gun moron. I thought it was funny and I guess everyone was so pissed that im not doing something correctly that they overlooked it.

                                Good day gentlemen
