CZ82 vs Glock 19

Which one would you choose? I am deciding on my next handgun purchase and can't decide between either one. I love collecting older military guns but the Glock 19 seems much more practical.

They are pretty dissimilar.

OP you do realise that the CZ82 fires the 9x18mm Makarov not the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge right?

Might want to look at the CZ83 which fire the more common (in the USA) .380

The CZ82 is a VERY different pistol from the glock. You will never find 9x18 on the shelf and even 380 is more expensive than 9x19. You might consider a CZ P01 or a G19. Either of those are great pistols and shoot the common 9mm (9x19).

I don't own a Glock but I have shot them a lot. I do own a CZ82, great gun but very different than a Glock.

For a fun little collector gun the CZ is great, but if you want a CCW gun or competition gun, the Glock is more practical

Get the CZ82, it's a great gun. And, don't let them fool you about the ammo. It is very easy to find online.

Both are awesome. 9x18 ammo isn't as hard to come by as some people would lead you to believe. Get whichever one pops up at a good price first, then get the other one next.

More important than availability, 9x18mm ("9mm Mak") is quite a bit less gun than 9x19mm ("9mm Luger"). At least with the Critical Defense load there is a modern bullet design available for 9x18mm but even then overall performance are in two different leagues.

That said, the CZ82 is a very good gun and certainly as competent as a defensive weapon as any .380. But it isn't a 9x19mm.

Do yourself a favor and get the Glock 19. Its what I recommend as the perfect all around handgun. People have tens of thousands of rounds through their Glocks. Plus the 19 is a great size.
