Im curious on what do u guys think of s&m 1911's?
particularly these type

Never owned one cause they pricey and not lefty friendly.
but this has ambi safety.
but can the mag release be switched to the right side?
and i do like the look of these 1911's.
now im contemplating on buying one in the near future.

Nice guns. Too bad neither of the guns on your link are on the roster. You'll need to have then SSE'd.

1st, don't know if the mag release can be swapped over.
You'll have to do a SSE on any of the new 1911's from Smith, they aren't on the roster. While I'd be interested in a new Smith, have to say that the two models you are looking at don't blow any hot air up my skirt. I figure the skeleton look will be a little more difficult for cleaning and I do worry about the longevity of the slide. With the slide being lighter, I wonder about what tuning is required on springs to keep things running well. And last, the Scandium model will be even lighter than a "normal" Scandium so the recoil will be more. I have a steel and and scandium Smiths, both in 5 inch and you can easily tell the additional recoil with the scandium frame. A scandium frame with a lighter than normal slide, that will kick even more than what I've got now.

I have the 1911 Pro Series in 9mm - shoots great - kinda picky with the ammo (probably cuz its 9)..quality and finish is superb! Got it via PPT from another CalGunner - everything is factory and works great.

The Performance Center 1911's seem to be top notch! I shoot with a guy that owns several.
