    Which .45 (XDM/P220/M&P/etc)

Sold my Full Size HK USP a while back, now I need a new .45. Not looking into a 1911 right now. Right now these are my choices from top to least. Im not really trying to spend more than $900, but would rather keep it below $700 total.

    1. SA XDM .45 4.5in, standard sights, 2mags(approx $600, can be bought asap online, plus all the transfer fees)
    2. Sig P220, Full Size, nights sights, 3 mags (approx $780, long wait time)
    3. Glock 21 4gen, 3 mags ($400, extra for night sights, 2-4 month wait time, but cheapest one)
    4. S&W M&P 45, (haven't really researched it yet)
    5. Sig P220 carry, night sights, 3 mags (approx $780, can be bought asap locally, but not looking for a compact)
    5.???

any other help on what I should choose would be appreciated. Also, I'm not a big fan of sigs da/sa trigger. I've had a da/sa and dak from sig, the DAK is decent. As far as an XDM and M&P, I really have no experience on those. As far as the glock, I been used to that trigger for some time now and prefer it.

Go get the USP back, and forgive yourself for making a bad decision. Or come to grips with the fact that a 1911 is the first, and possibly only .45 you should buy. I highly recommend Wilson Combat.

Nothing tops 1911 in terms of trigger pull, it is simply the best/nicest pull.
OP, just curious, why not 1911 in you are looking for 45?

Is it a range gun, HD, or both?

Try shooting all platforms first to see if any don't fit your hand/fingers. I prefer the GLOCK of all pistols mentioned, but the Sig is a close second. Are you limited to 10 round capacity?

        WTB used AK MFER.

            LOL. You beat me.

What was wrong with the USP? Have you researched HK45?

I sold the USP to an uncle....friendly gesture. Full size, less than 50 rds, 3 high cap mags and night sights, acc. rail and holster. Bought 2006...sold for.....$700. Can't say I regret it cause a family members happy haha.

As far as a 1911 and HK45, I do want one, but price wise is not the right time. ESP since Ill probably want one in the $1,000 + range.

But the.45 will be for both HD and range. I'm not limited to 10 rds.

I'm one of those all metal guys so I would go sig. That being said I ordered a new 220 in December and still haven't seen IT (currrnt eta is June) I imagine if you'll want a factory Dak you'll need to order as well.

Well, there is always the classic 1911, aside from that my list would be

                    CZ-97
                    M&P 45
                    Ruger SR-45

I don't think you can "go wrong" with any of them.

I like my M&P just fine though. Accurate, reliable, comfortable, and not a lot of money.

If you like your USP, I think the choice comes down to the SIG 220...if you like the DA/SA trigger and having a hammer...or the M&P45...which has a great feel, but only has a striker.

I think the SIG 220 is the best feeling hammer fired service .45ACP available, with the HK45 coming in a close second (due to it's trigger)

I'd say get a HK45 if you can. Then again, I'll advocate like many others to re-think getting a 1911. If your budget is hovering around $1000. There are many 1911s that are around that price... Sig, Springfield Armory, etc.

for target shooting I would recommend any good 1911. Trigger is quite likely the best ever.

for all else I would recommend Glock or M&P based on bang vs buck
M&P grip feels more natural/instinctive to me and I do prefer it over the Glock but that being said both are great makes.
I fear paper cuts far more than firearms.
