    Sig 226 or CZ SP-01

I recently acquired a German Sig 226 in 9mm and a CZ SP-01. They are both a pleasure to shoot. My dilemma is do I keep both and become proficient on each platform or do I sell the Sig and get a CZ P01 and have the same weapon in full size and compact?

Keep your Sig, it is so much better than the SP01. The CZ is worthless compared to the Sig.

Now that we have proven your CZ is worthless, I'll be glad to take it off your hands...

    Congratulations, both are excellent firearms.

P.S. On the off chance you ever need to sell your CZ... I call dibs!

Sig is too bulky for me...I shot it before and never liked Sig. It looks sturdy, hard-made but not for me. CZ SP-01 is probably the most accurate pistol I have ever shot. It's very close to Browning Hi Power. I can't group as good as I do with the CZ or Browning when shooting the Sig....

I'd keep them both! I'd take it off your hands if you decide to sell it.

I wouldn't say that the CZ is worthless lol (it was a joke, I know), but I would keep the Sig. Video games have made the SP-01 a "cool" gun, and yes it shoots decent..... More people pay $200-$300 more for the SP-01 over the 75B because it has a rail, even though they dont use the rail.....but its not a Sig. Can't stand the 1/2 high slide on the CZ either. Racking my P-01 sucked. CZ didn't pop a cap in Bin Laden's azz

            Tiny slide, stiff action

            Grippy slide, less stiff action

CZ and Sig's operations are pretty much the same.. so its not like you're really struggling to become proficient in multiple platforms. Both are DA/SA.

Unless you have a real reason to get rid of one or the other, I'd just keep both. I don't know if you're actually one of the privileged ones that can CCW in CA.. but I don't see too much of a reason to get a compact if you're like the majority of us.

I've owned both CZ and Sigs and while I do like the overall quality and refinement in the Sigs.. CZs always handled better for me. I'm not saying the CZ is bad quality by any means, but random things like how sloppy the polycoat can get, etc... mostly cosmetic that don't affect the operation at all. Sigs on the other hand have certain refinements like how the decocker feels, the disassembly, etc.. makes it feel like thats where you spent a lot of your money.

Personally, I dunno what missiontrails is talking about. I'm not sure if video games really made SP-01s "cool" but I've been following CZs for a while (mainly because a friend has been a die-hard CZ fan forever) and there has always been a steady increase in popularity. A lot of it just has to do with people getting more exposed to them. I think before they were getting popular because they were kind of the affordable alternative to a Sig for people who wanted a quality all-steel DA/SA pistol (while FNH covered the polymer category).

Ya, the SP-01's are weapon choices in a few of the video games that are out.., apparently. That's why "some" people pay up to $300 more for a SP-01 over the less "cool" 75B. Some people truly need the rail for lights and lasers.., but most that I have seen in the ranges or ones that belong to friends have never had anything mounted to the rail.... I even ask, why did you buy that instead of the 75B.. answer: "because it looks cooler".. lol. It DOES "look" cool, but I sure as hell would not pay more than the difference betwern CZ's MSRP's between the two pistols. A machined rail does not add $300 value.

My Sigs are great combat guns but I'm a surgeon with my CZs.

if you shoot them back to back, I cannot for the life of me understand why someone should choose the sig 226, except to buy the name sig.

The SP01 feels more ergonomic, it IS more accurate, the control placement makes sense, and the SA pull is better, IMO.

The 226 has a higher bore axis, and I never liked the placement of the controls. Never liked the stock trigger.

The SP01 beats it in every category, IMO. Someone pointed out that sigs have simpler internals, and that is a plus for the sig, but my CZs have gone bang each and every time. Only 1 failure to feed in over 10k rounds through them.

Haha, if true, thats pretty ridiculous. My CZ of choice has always been the 75 in single action only. I do like how the SP-01s look.. but they don't really have a single action model for those unless you pay a premium on top of their already higher price over any 75 models.

The SP-01 feels great in the hand, and is very easy to shoot. However, you're never going to see people carrying them, they are too heavy, 39oz vs 34oz, and that low bore axis comes at the expense of a low profile slide which sucks for big hands. Perfect for accuracy for the range though. The "surgeon" shooter at last weekends Front Sight course was using a P226.

I'm on "notify" status on 3 websites for a 75B SA For $500... hell of a value... SP-01 for $700-800 (seen NIB (used) ones doing $800)... no thanks.

They're both in the same category, and possess different reset and trigger characteristics. OP also didn't state whether this was for competition, home defense, or toys for the range, so we can't really make a recommendation.

If you can afford to keep it, and like having options to shoot/bring to the range, keep them both. That way, if your house gets broken into, and they only find one gun, you'll still have one to keep your premises safe.

If you want to compete with your pistols, the SP-01 is more popular because you're able to make more followup shots due to the ergonomics of the gun. Applies to home defense too.

If you're strapped for cash and you just need one gun for home defense, choose the one you like shooting more.

I do agree with you on the accuracy but I have the E2 grip system on the Sig and it makes the gun much nicer to hold.
