Current Sig quality?

I have had a P239 for a couple months now. Only 300 rounds through it. So far the slide failed to lock open after the last round once, and one round took a nose dive and did not chamber. Other than those two events, I really like it. I may have facilitated those, I don't know.

One other thing though, the edges and corners of the barrel and the slide are very sharp. You could almost cut yourself on them. This is my only Sig so I don't know if that is normal or not. It almost seems as if it needs to be dehorned internally. My HK, Glock and Kimber are not like that. Maybe someone here more knowledgeable could enlighten me if all Sigs are like that.

With the exception of my older P228, all of my barrels near the feed-ramp are pretty sharp...especially my P229 .357 barrels. I think this is pretty much by design.

I think it must be by design also, it just kind of surprised me.

Guns are just like any consumer product. Sometimes you get a lemon. Unfortunately with the popularity of ranting on internet forums, we all hear the negative aspects of certain products including guns. I have a Stainless P226 in .40 which I inherited in 2005 and 2 P220 Stainless (one of which is CPO). I have nothing negative to report on any of them. I actually just picked up the CPO P220 Stainless yesterday and went directly to the range. Put 200 rounds of WWB 230 RN through it without any problems. I used 3 factory 8 rounders. My 226 has 2200 trouble free rounds through it while my first 220 Stainless has 1300 trouble free rounds. So I'm sorry to hear about all the folks here that got bum Sigs. Sigs are usually highly reliable and combat accurate.

I have a 1995, West German 220. I've fired a few hundreds rounds since I bought it from the original owner a few months ago here in Calguns. I have had 2 FTF's, but aside from that, it's been fine. I also have a West German 226. Same round count and it's never not fired, jammed, etc. It's 1996. So while I prefer West German's, one of them (the 220) isn't perfect. But it could have been user error or the ammo. I just got the Sig Armorer's DVD and will be fully field stripping the guns and probably replacing all the springs to turn back the clock so to speak.

I am waiting for delivery of a 2004, 226st in .40 s&w. Per the seller, it's NIB and looks like it based on pictures. This is my newest sig and the one that isn't West German. I have learned that external extractors are the preferred Sigs when it comes to ones that were manufactured after the turn of the century. So I carefully shopped and I hope that it shoots fine.

I also found out through Sigforum that mine is a rare run with less than 300 made. Hopefully the quality is good on this one.
