    WTF is a SCCY?

I've got a friend in AZ that is looking to buy his first handgun. He came across a "SCCY" in a gun shop out there. He asked me what I thought of them, and I told him I had never heard of them.

What's the deal with these? Do they make good, reliable guns?

From what I've heard they are an inexpensive but reliable poly framed 9mm that we can't get in CA. An excellent example of how the list fairly well screws us over. That alot of people in CA have never even heard of the thing shows how we can get used to the restriction, not miss what we don't see.

I was reading a gun rag the other day with a review of their new CPX-2. Normally inexpensive and good are mutually exclusive traits in the gun world. Is your friend willing to be a guinea pig? The review was favorable, but aren't they always. Being the new kid on the block is tough since there's no knowledge to base your purchase on.

Basically it appears to be a 9mm that's similar in size and weight to a Kahr PM9. But it holds 10+1 vs Kahr's 6+1. That's quite a feat in itself in such a tiny package. If it turns out to be reliable, it will become everyone's go to mouse gun and displace giants like the Kahr PM9, the Kel-Tec PF-9, the S&W Shield, the Ruger LC9, and various Sigs and other makes.

often, but not always. The "XD" used to be $300 while a Glock was $500. Or, it used to be ~$300 when it was called the HS2000 and was thought to be a cheap gun, but a company called Springfield Armory bought the US distribution rights, changed the name of the gun, raised the price ~$150 and all of a sudden it was the new darling.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

My understanding is that "SCCY" products are Kel-Tec clones with some product improvements. Seems to be a relatively well-made product but it hasn't been around long enough to really build-up a reputation one way or another.

The gun is fairly small and very light; good for CCW but a very bad idea for a first gun.

SCCY is their second coming. They used to be known as something else, had all kinds of problems, fixed them and this is what they have now.

Google them and you will find all kinds of information.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

There are a bunch on GB http://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-P...?Keywords=sccy

They are not on the roster so you will need to be exempt or have one sent to a dealer that can do an SSE for you. From your location I would recommend contacting EBR and OC Armory to see if they can do it for you.
