I loved it when I first used it and since learning how to use it properly, I am staying with it. I use a powder blaster to remove all oil, grease and residue. After the gun is stripped of residue, I heat up the parts with a hair dryer and apply the paste on all parts with a 1/4 inch wide wal-mart artists paint brush. I reapply heat and let the paste melt into the parts/grooves, wait and then wipe off clean. Parts that I want lubed 'wet' during operation, I use a small amount of the liquid to keep those areas covered. I find my 1911's look great and operate without any FTE/FTF's (they smell good too!). Other than using the degreaser, you can clean your guns at the kitchen table or while watching TV without offending anyone.

Any suggestions on who offers the best pricing for FL nowadays?

I have used FL for close to two years....
Have it on my AR, R700, 1911, Glocks, shotguns....

Here's what I have done and like...

Wipe off as much prior lube as possible (or even degreese).
Use a heat gun (9.00 harbor freight special, if not, put it in the sun for a while)... Get the parts warm and paint on the paste.
Wait for it to cool down and congeal and wipe off the excess
Sometimes I will leave the excess on

On my AR, I keep the excess and it will liquefy when I shoot and congeal when I'm done. Having the excess paste does not hurt but actually helps.
To clean my guns, I wipe down the gun with a microfiber towel.
Occasionally I will reapply some of the liquid FL, doing cleaning. No need for wire brushes or carbon build up. Carbon wipes off.

I have notice a different feel to the finish when using FL... Sorta like a rubber protective finish (if that makes sense)

Love the fact you just wash your hands to get if off (it being non toxic was not on my requirement)

It's good stuff. Not a miracle product, but then nothing is. Lube is lube. I like that it smells nice, and is nontoxic.

The heat is not required. You can just use it (the liquid) like any CLP. After all, then gun heats up when you shoot it.

Like I said, the biggest advantage are the nice smell and the nontoxic aspect.

I've ordered some Froglube from Amazon. Doesn't hurt to try it out.

It's good stuff. I've used it on my AR, glock, sig, Draco pistol and no issues. Best part is, I can clean it indoors without anyone complaining about the smell.

Froglube is fine if you shoot a lot. If you let it sit for a long period of time however, it dries out and gets hard like Chapstick.

There are far better traditional oils and greases that cost less, and protect and lube better. It's fine for a Glock or a Sig, but it's not suitable for rifles, as it does not defoul a bore as well as foaming bore cleaner etc.

It definitely makes guns cycle nice if it has recently been applied.

The whole 'froglube soaks into the metal and pushes other lubes out" is hocus pocus.

You will not find a scientific data tothat validates their claims. I know because I tried to get such information. All I got was how green this stuff is and that it was designed by a Navy SEAL (like Navy SEALs spend their time in labs working to find the best lubricant/protectant). There was a past thread which detailed how FrogLube's genesis lies in the bio-degradable grease used by NASA for the space shuttle crawler-transporters.

As for the slides feeling slick, try putting Astoglide on your slide. It will be just as slick but underneath the surface a lot of friction is happening (This sounded dirty ). Don't judge a CLP by how you "feel" about it.

I haven't found this to be the case yet. How long of a period of time? I just checked my Saiga 308, that was lubed and not used since before Dec, and it seems to be OK.

There are definitely other lubes that cost less, but as far as lube/protect, it seems to be comparable, in my hands, to breakfree CLP (note: I am not a professional, just a regular guy that likes to shoot occasionally- maybe a couple times/month if I am lucky). I use it in all of my pistols and rifles, including glock, ar-15, saiga 308, ruger 10/22 and SR22 with no issues.

Yes, breakfree is cheaper, but it doesn't smell as nice. Also, the froglube seems to last a while, so maybe over the long run, the price differential decreases.

Honestly, you might be right. If froglube soaks into the metal (seasoning), then you would expect that any other lube would do the same. It might just be that all lubes season the metals over time. Perhaps heating the froglube helps that process (and similarly, would help the process for any lube).

The reason I use it is the nice smell and nontoxic properties. Seems to work about as well as anything else I've tried.

I have been using if for almost 2 years on all my hand guns, and now all my long guns. No problems from the FL. I have really dropped my round count the last six months, but I am on average a 25K round a year shooter. To some people here that's not a lot, but seems to work for me. Just finished breaking in my new .338 Lapua Magnum barrel last weekend with FL. I also found other uses for it as well.

Yea I just don't enjoy the just have fads that scour around forums and hobbies and how so many guys push it as if its the only product to purchase because like you said its by a Navy Seal and someone at MagPul uses it.

I'm not arguing it works and is a great lube but I've yet to see it do anything my rem oil hasn't done for me besides being green. Like I said I plan on picking a can up my self in the future when my rem oil runs out but I don't like seeing guys talk down on other lubes and pushing guys out of their perfectly good oils and lubes they have already purchased or were fine on buying because of a fad.

Lube is lube if it works it works if it doesn't it doesn't. Simple. But I agree I've yet to see anything for frontline besides "OMG I bought some and its the best lube out there" - joe shmo hobby shooter

In my opinion the thing that it does that other products I have used do not do is make cleanup after a range trip much faster/easier. If it lubes as good as other lube but also makes cleanup twice as fast that is all I need.

The other great thing is that once you treat your gun you really dont need very much, just a little bit on the barrel and rails and a little for cleaning and you are gtg.
