    EMP Problems - Range Update

EMP accuracy problems are fixed - shoots great. Very impressed with the feel and I still have not had any malfunctions whatsoever. I added some rubber finger grooves and man what a difference. I also like log man's flush mags. Now for a IWB holster, add to permit...

Two minor complaints - I was wondering if anyone else has observed the same. Grip safety starts to hurt after a few boxes. It has been awhile since I've shot a gun with a grip safety - this one seems to have a bulge (sts) at the lower end. Not a big deal - getting used to it.

Also, trigger is good but there is a little takeup and the break is not as crisp as I thought it would be. I know I'm stuck with the takeup but does the break improve over time? Thx for any inputs.

glad to read your problems are fixed. The "bulge" on your grip safety is called a "memory bump" (don't ask me why..I don't know why it's called that) and is on there to assist the shooter in positive safety de-activation.
Your trigger will smooth out with time. Dry firing will help speed up the process. Try adjusting the over-travel screw in the trigger face. Be careful, you can tighten the over travel to the point the trigger can't move far enought to release the sear. If you do, no problem, just back it off until the hammer will fall. You'd be surprised the difference in the feel of the "crisp-ness" you'll have when the over travel is eliminated. Pre-travel (aka take-up) probably will not be affected and personally I like a tiny bit of take up before the sear is released.

It is call a memory bump, because that is what Ed Brown called it when he first introduced it.

The original had horizontal grooves across the bump and the marketing was that is helped you with consistent placement of your hand on the backstrap

The EMP is not an easy gun to shoot accurately. It took all the concentration I could muster to keep it in a 3" group at 15 yards. Before sending it back bench it and see how your groups improve. Where are you located? Sammy

I'm in Fresno. I'm happy with the gun right now - no plans to send it back. I know my accuracy will improve over time. The new barrel has made a big difference.

Old thread but I wanted to give an update. EMP is a really fun weapon to shoot! Accuracy has really improved and the gun is really "growing" on me. I still have not had a single failure in over 600 rounds! I have started to use it as my EDC with a Crossbreed IWB. A little larger than my Kahr but I am hoping to get used to it. Will see...

Out of curiosity, do you ever find that the hole in the face of the trigger irritates your trigger finger? I sometimes wind up with a partial imprint on the pad of my finger from that cutout after extended range sessions. I've been thinking about sending the gun to Springfield Custom Shop for a solid-faced trigger.

Now that you mention it I have "noticed" it from time to time but it has not become an irritant. I think you should send it in if it bothers you. I am considering changing the safety. Everyone has some tweaks they want to get done...

You can degrease and fill the whole face with moldable latex rubber or you could bevel the hole a bit. I haven't had this problem, but I usually place my finger above the adjustment hole
