When I saw the the shield come out, I wanted to buy one. After handling one in the store alongside the M&P9c, i decided to go with the 9c. It was slim enough, and the extra width felt good in the hand.

Help me decide XDsc9 or Shield

I try to never complain about a gun, but the XD bore axis is atrocious IMO. If you like it, the XDsc isn't bad. It's still pretty big, though.
The Shield is a sweet little gun. Nuff said.Comment

As someone who has actually owned both of those guns
GET THE SHIELD!!!!
The XD9sc, while a decent gun, sucks in three categories by comparison. Width, for a CCW gun the shield is just easier to carry and more concealable. Trigger, the Shield has a slightly heavy, but relatively short trigger pull with a good break and short reset. The XD has a trigger that feels like mushy cheese with a decent break and a reset that requires you to practically return to its resting position. Even in recoil I would have to give it to the shield, the XD series' high bore axis does not help at all when it comes to recoil, whereas even though the shield is smaller and lighter it has a lower bore axis which helps in the felt-recoil department, I would just barely give the edge to the Shield in felt recoil, just barely.
If what you are looking for is a CCW pistol I would go with the Shield because it is designed for that purpose and does it well.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L Mencken

Implying you can even find a shield!!!I am having a tough time trying to decide on which one. I own one and have shot the other both in full size and love both. I will be using this for CCW in other states, not here in CA
I know there is other CC pistols out there and have the LC9, but I want either the S&W Shield or the XDsc9. What are the pros? What are the cons? Experience, one easier to conceal etc. ThanksComment

In any caliber, I find the XDsc quite a bit more uncomfortable to shoot and harder to control than the M&Pc. Although it is a bit bigger in the grip length, it also seems to me that the S&W gun conceals somewhat better.
For a concealment gun, the thickness of the weapon has far more to do with concealability and carry comfort than the other dimensions, which definitely puts the Shield ahead in the game. Don't worry too much about magazine capacity; almost all civilian CCW situations are resolved with 5 rounds or less.RSM

Dude, They've been taking pre-orders for nearly a year now! The Shield came out about this time or so last year.
Sadly, nobody knows when they are going to be delivered.
$800 cash in unmarked bills and I'll sell ya mine.
NOT....just kidding.
