Help me decide XDsc9 or Shield

I am having a tough time trying to decide on which one. I own one and have shot the other both in full size and love both. I will be using this for CCW in other states, not here in CA I know there is other CC pistols out there and have the LC9, but I want either the S&W Shield or the XDsc9. What are the pros? What are the cons? Experience, one easier to conceal etc. Thanks

The XD9sc is a great gun. It shoots just like the full sized version. It has low recoil and is probably the most accurate subcompact gun I've ever shot. The only downside for me is that it's top heavy. It feels like most of the weight is in the front of the slide so it doesn't feel balanced in my hand. But that doesn't affect CCW.

Personally, I'd get the Shield for CCW during the summer months since it's much thinner so it should be easier to carry. For colder weather when I can wear a cover garment, I'd prefer the XD9sc for the higher capacity.

I have not gotten to try the shield, but I really loved the way the xd9sc shot.

Without any hesitation, between those 2, the Shield. That being said, it all depends on how you carry. IWB? OWB? Where on the belt? The Shield is about the same size as a G19/G26 depending on which mag you use (obviously slimmer). I found that the G19 carries easier AIWB in a Fricke Zacchaeus, than my Shield did in a Zacchaeus, leather AIWB or JM Custom Kydex AIWB. The G17/19 in my JM Custom Kydex AIWB is pure heaven as far as IWB/AIWB goes. I think the whole slim/subcompact CC gun thing is overrated. The decrease in control, capacity and consistency of draw has pushed me back to doublestack compact/full size guns. If I carried OWB or IWB @ 3:00-4:30 I might have a different opinion, but I'm not an OWB guy & I never had problems with full size guns IWB @ 4:30'ish.

I would get the shield if you are looking at xds in 9mm. But check out the kahr k9 cw9 or p9. They give you same capacity but thinner and option of a steel frame.

Shield if it was my money. Very comfortable, easy to shoot, accurate & reliable.

How many rounds do you want to hold?

I have a M&P 40c and an M&P 40 Shield. I love both and the shield has surprisingly little recoil. Since you won't carry it in CA, you can have full size mags. The difference for me is 6 rounds (7 rds with extended mag) in the shield or 10 rounds with the compact.

The compact is more comfortable to shoot IMHO but not by much. the shield is just a sweet gun. I also like that it has a physical safety.

My vote goes to the shield!

I second this, also don't rule out the pm9 Great little gun. Unless you have large hands like me then it is hard to hold onto. Friend carries one. If I could carry this would be on the top of my list over the xd9sc. As I own A xd9sc

I think the real question here is which one is available to you! Lord knows there are hundreds, if not thousands of Californians itching to get their hands on a Shield right now.

I have a Shield and would buy another one or any other M&P before buying any S/A made in Croatia. Have shot them and didn't like them.
