and San Francisco. When i got my permit I asked why San Francisco and was told there was no law stating that a CCW was invalid there but if a LEO asked me to put my gun in my trunk I had better do it or SFPD could tell my home county I had failed to comply with a law enforcement request, therefore losing my permit.
    FUD, absurd nonsense FUD.

Why is it always a "friend told me" or "my buddy is friends with a cop and he said" or best yet, "my local gun store said"

Show me the law, point me to the city ordinance that says that.

Here's the deal: I carry there with a permit issued from another issuing agency everyday. My permit is authorized by the STATE Department of Justice. Any local PD that tries to illegally infringe upon that permit is doing so... illegally.

    End of story.

Jeez, we really are our worst enemies, aren't we?

Well, I am going to try my best to get my permit. I plan to qualify with the Tracker and a Makarov, that should cover all my bases. For the heck of it and because it would be insanely easy, I just might do the Mark II, although that is subject to change. One thing at a time though, one thing at a time... can't count my eggs before they hatch, right?

that is a big fat NO. in kali, you need to check with county to county. there is no state ccw license.

False. Did you even read this thread? The CCW permit in California is a state-wide permit (its primary effect being exempting the person from the ban on "loaded" and "concealed carry," such exemptions having no reference to carrying within the county or city that issued it). It just happens to be issued by city or county LEOs.

That is why at the top it says:

"License to carry concealed pistol, revolver, or other firearm within the STATE of California".....

Exactly correct. The issuing agency can put restriction on the permit and there is actually a blank line that says Restrictions (if any) right above where you sign and thumbprint. I have *heard* that such restriction could be that the permit is only good while you are on the job or some such but I've never actually seen such restrictions applied.

just be careful applying in places where you man not even have a chance. Denials can hurt you in future applications.

As for the San Francisco thing, its not true. Last i checked, San Francisco is part of the state of california, and the license is valid for all of california, and any state that honors California's CCW permit. they may not like it, but they cannot legally disarm you if you are licensed to carry and not carrying in a prohibited area. I've carried into San Francisco on multiple occasions without worry. besides, if its CONCEALED carry...no one should ever know right

Contrary to what seems to be "public knowledge," it is DEFINITELY possible to get a CCW in San Diego. It is likely that you will get a "business-related" restriction if your good cause is related to your occupational activities.

You need to be able to articulate exactly WHAT makes you more of a potential victim than the public-at-large (that's your good cause statement), pass the shooting test, pay the $, wait probably 4-5 months... But, it can happen. Just a couple of things that will kill the deal:

NEVER bring up 2A, your rights to..., etc. That will not be received well at all, if you get me drift.
                      Do not go in unprepared.

                      Things to do:

Document the daylights out of what you do that makes you a more likely target than the average Joe. Now document it some more. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Dress like you respect the LEO manager who does the interview. You show respect for them, they may return it similarly.

Treat this like a job interview! Know the answers before the questions get asked.

Stay positive. "Know" that you should have a CCW, be able to explain the reasons, emphasize that your goal is to make this whole process academic, that you hope you will never need to use it. Make it clear that you know you may only use it to protect your life or the lives of others, but that you are not a LEO. Let them do their jobs, you just protect yourself (not property!) and live to be a good witness.

Good luck! (For more info, talk with Billy Jack!)

Because a denial on your record could hurt your future chances at receiving one, should your circumstances change.

SF is the the nations bunghole. I hate going there. You can get hassled by PD for just carrying an exposed tactical folding knife. ( which is legal by the way). I hate being stuck in Kali.

It's really too bad us gun owners can't get the ball rolling politically to get a " shall issue" measure up for public vote.

Here I was thinking concealed carry of any kind was banned everywhere in the state.

Is it legal in Santa Clara County?
What do I need to get it?
