    My first DIY 1911

The frame is anodized aluminum, the lower parts are from various manufactures as I bought what was available and relatvely inexpensive and the upper is a kimber conversion kit.

Future work includes checkering the front strap and alumahyde the frame. In the long run I plan to build it into a 9mm.

I got the parts yesterday and all I could think about was building it. Stopping to take pictures never crossed my mind. Heck, I didn't stop to eat until I was done!

There I was building a gun on the kitchen table as my wife is trying to feed the kids...she wasn't impressed until she held my gun :-)

What paperweight did you start with?
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It's a Ranger Machine & Tool alloy receiver from the early 80's. I found it new in the original box at my local FFL.

It's was a lucky find because I've been wanting an alloy frame 1911 for a long time, I just couldn't justify the cost of one of the very few that are on the roster.
