    Ideas for a .22

I am about to start making a couple BOB's for my wife and I and want to incorporate a .22 into my wifes bag. I wanted to see if you guys had any ideas about either a Sig Mosquito, Walther P22, or a Ruger SR22. I have read about reliabilty issues with each of them when it comes to standard Wally World ammo, but I am going to be mostly running CCI Mini-Mags or Stingers through it anyways. I heard that the Mark III has less issues when it comes to to all types of ammo, but I figure if I'm running the CCI's wither one should work. Also, my wife hasn't been shooting in a while so I would like something more similar to my Glock 22, so that's why I am leaning more towards the Sig, Walther, or the SR22 so she can train with the .22 and be more used to the Glock if she ever needs to get to it. Anyways, once again, I appreciate any feedback that you guys can provide.

If you're concerned about utmost reliability, *generally* revolvers are less ammo-dependent than any auto. S&W makes the Model 617 and Ruger the SP101. Either gun would be an excellent "kit gun". In fact, if you're hunting with your .22 in a survival situation, the S&W single action trigger pull is hard to beat.

I agree hard to go wrong with a Smith revolver. I do however have a p22 it IS finicky with ammo. Cci bulk packs run awesome though.

Yeah, those S&W revolvers look nice, but the price is kinda up there. I want to keep it a little smaller. Not really for target shooting. Got a few good feedbacks about the Ruger LCR revolver and the M&P22, (even though that's a full size pistol). Any thoughts on either of those?

I have a MKIII 22/45 and a SR22. The 2245 is superior in accuracy, but it's not a gun for beginners. Mainly because of disassembly/reassembly. Still need to use the right ammo. The SR22 is far less easy to shoot accurately, but still an accurate pistol. After trying all the ammos of the world, I now only shoot minimags and stingers out of the sr22. Never had a malfunction using those two ammos.

          My opinion:
The MKIII is a better 22 pistol overall, but if I were buying a 22 handgun for my wife, it would be the SR22.

Get the Mk. III or 22/45. It's a better gun, and you'll be happier in the long run.

100% agree with getting a used S&W .22LR revolver. Very reliable and accurate and you can put any 22LR ammo through it without worrying about FTF or FTE.

Get a conversion slide. Keeps the same platform, trigger, handling, holster, and physical mechanics.

I shoot the bejebus out of my Tactical Solutions 1911 conversion. A quick slide change, and I'm back to honest big bullet protection with no change in handling or familiarity.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Remember ... revolvers don't have magazines to break or lose! So if it's BOB, consider a revolver as well.

The one thing that's stopped me from seriously considering an SP101 in general is the talk of how heavy the trigger pull is. Anybody care to comment on that?

What about the M&P .22? I have read very good reviews of it and it seems like it is probably the least picky about ammo.

Any thoughts on the ISSC M22?

Although these rifles resemble very closely the style and feel of an actual rifle, air rifles can't do the same damage that an actual rifle can. This amounts to a much safer method to target practice, and it also means that 1 can even involve the kids in hunting practice, should the proper quantity of training and supervision be in place.
