That happens to me! Even worse is then some brass cylinder flies out of it! Very disturbing. I mean, what happens when all the cylinders fall out? Is this normal?

j/k OP, get thee some oil.

That's why New York established the 7 round rule, 6 in the cylinder and 1 in the chamber..........

Same occurrence for me and my new 17 a ways backs. Stripped it down lubed it up. Racked the slide a dozen times. Squeak is basically gone now.

That's the Glock screen door sound... Every Glock I have ever pulled the slide back on had it- especially when new. Enjoy your Glock. Don't mind the haters chiming in. Hate on Glock haters....

I don't think that's correct. As long as the frame is not replaced, I believe a handgun can be sent to either a licensed manufacturer or a licensed custom shop; then returned directly to the owner. (Unless Glock has some company policy that exceeds legal requirements.)

Replace the stock 17 lb. recoil spring with a lower one?

Uh, no. It's new and it squeaks, a lower value flat wound spring would not make less noise, either in a 15, 13, or 11 lb range. Do you own a Glock? The spring rubs against the guide rod, that's all. Oil it or run it for a few hundred rounds.

Yes, but I only suggested it because my friend's G23 and G19 had the same issue, and it resolved the squeaking (oiling, etc. did not work; plus the new recoil springs were inexpensive). Not saying this is a universal fix.

Ok, so which brand of spring and what weight did your friend use to solve this problem in the G23 and G19? Was it captured or uncaptured? Flat wound or coiled?

                        ISMI.

I believe it was 13 lbs for the G19 and 15 for the G23.

that happened once with an old g17 i purchased. propped the spring out, drenched in CLP for a day/night, lubed it up, put it back in and racked it a few times with no squeak.

I bet this is why. The lower value springs have less coils which means less 'twist' and the resultant spring curve is now not touching the guide rod. 17 lbs being stock. ISMI makes nice stuff and you can put them on the OEM guide rod.

Yes, indeed. I guess it's also preference... some prefer trying to oil/fix it, and others like us would just replace them out of the box.

My Sig Pro was squeaky too when I first got it. Gave up, and eventually just replaced the coil as well-- no more squeaking.

Squeaky? It ain't a glock unless a spent cartridge pops you in the forehead! Keep shooting it it'll be less squeaky and won't pop you in the head so much.....
