Times have changed significantly. The market is not the same as a year ago. Like I said before if you find me the same gun with the same characteristics/qualities on sale in CA, I will match the price.

I told you last week in the three threads that got deleted that you'd be lucky to get $800 for it. I stick by that. The last 586 I bought I paid $450 for and it was a no dash. This was a couple years ago.

So now I'm confused. Were you asking a question about value or just posting a link to your auction in OT?

I am asking a honest question. I am not an expert in this field, so would like to hear about your thoughts.

I have received some comments about the price of my gun. Some users thought it's overpriced. So I decided to let the professionals in the field value the gun. This is not an advertisement.

I bought a 6" no dash unfired 686 with box and papers in the for sale forum for $600 around 6 months ago. The 4" is a little more desireable than the 6". Gunbroker prices are high. If you want Gunbroker prices, your best bet is to open an account and sell it there. You will pay a fee for selling it there. The 1200 bucks you are asking for a 686 no box or papers is high. 600-700 bucks is what you will get around here. They are not by any means rare, or that collectable. the dash 4 I believe the the most sought after, drilled and tapped, no lock or MIM, can be had in 7 shot. They are nice shooting guns though.

              686 4" no dash $623

              686-3 $510

              686-4 $755

-1 (1986): radius stud package, introduction of the floating hand.

The "M" recall (1987) for the no-dash and -1 guns was to fit a new hammer nose and firing pin bushing to deal with certain brands of ammo causing binding when fired.

-2 (1987) incorporated the "M" recall features as standard production.

-3 (1988) floating hand deleted, new yoke retention system

-4 (1993, apparently the most desirable) included a drilled-and-tapped frame, the introduction of the "+" model with 7 shots, flash-chromed hammer/trigger deleted (case-hardened only), new extractor, start shipping with round-butt frame only (no square-butt)

-5 (1997) change to MIM hammer and trigger and frame-mounted firing pin, as well as the frame lug being machined as part of the frame (prior to this it was a separate part, fitted to and pressed into the frame).

-6 (2001, current production) has The Lock

-7 (2002, Performance Center) chambers .38 Super instead of .357 Magnum

Just a fishing trip. It's value is solely what someone is willing to pay for it. Without the box and papers any serious collector would pass on this one.

you will likely get the same response.Useful but not highly desirable. come back with a registered magnum or a S numbered model 27 then you have something.

I got mine in a trade for an FNP-9 (which at the time went for roughly $500). 686's are range/hiking/nightstand guns, it's gonna take some time for them to hit any kind of collector status as they are not hard to find. $1200 is a pipe dream IMO. Knock $500 off your price and you will have it sold within the week.

$1200 is out of the ballpark for your 686, though you could pray for a complete idiot to take the hook.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

The current market conditions are in response to proposed legislature that is specifically targeting semi-autos. You see prices shooting up on semi-autos and ammo as people begin to hoard and buy the guns they think are in danger of being banned.
The only revolvers I know of that have legislature against them are those capable of firing .410 shotgun shells. You can try to get roughly double what the "normal market price" is, but you will be sitting on it until you see the 686 added to a weapons ban of some sort.

Keep the revolver. You probably not get what it is worth to you. Unless you need the $$, then around $600 is about right.

I could see a 686 going for $850, only because right now there is noting in the local stores other then cowboy guns. This is not to say that its really worth that but right now there is a shortage of simi auto inventory that has spilled over to a shortage of any hand gun inventory.

Asking $1,200 puts you in the same catagory as those that were selling gas for $20/gal after huricane Sandy. Sleep well my friend.
