    My first Handgun!

I've been begging my wife to let me buy a pistol every since I got out of the Marine Corps and she has always claimed I didn't need one. Finally after 4 years of nagging she caved. My problem now is I can't find 9mm's anywhere does anyone know anywhere that has some 9mm in stock near Vacaville/solano? Id really prefer an Springfield XD 9 however im to the point now (because of the current market situation) That I would like to just find some 9mm to hold and see if I like the feel so I can buy before she changes her mind lol. Thanks!

open maps on your iphone and type "gunstore". it will list the ones nearest to you. Go there and handle a bunch of different guns (good luck finding an XD in stock anywhere). If you like one buy it.

Plan B: pay an inflated price on the marketplace here for the exact gun you want.

Not so far of a drive but check Sacramento Black Rifle in Rockin, might be worth your 1 hr drive. Their site shows the 9mm XD in stock. I would call first, but their site is usually very accurate. I live right by there, great store

I believe Center Mass has an XD-9 you can rent, as well as other 9mm pistols. You can window-shop and fondle some pieces at Guns, Fishing... if you can put up with their lackluster customer service. I certainly wouldn't buy anything there with those prices.

Yeah i went to Centermass the other day I love that shop i go there with my friend to use their range. I went to Guns, fishing yesterday they dont have much there and what they do have wasy WAY over priced and the ppl were very rude. So I won't be buying from there as well. I plan on going back to Centermass today and ill look at BAF Specialties right next door. I think im going to leave now to go check out Sacremento Black Rifle. Thanks everyone.

Better than just 'handling' them, go to several ranges that have rentals and shoot as many as you can find that interest you. Ranges don't have a ton of variety in rentals but you will be able to find several of the most popular ones.

I'd say scour the marketplace. Finding an XD9 in a gunstore is going to be tough. Remember used isn't bad! Good luck!

If you're going to be in the Sacramento area, try river city gun exchange or Shootin' shack in elk grove

Seconded River City Gun Exchange. No one in the Bay Area was carrying cz's but a 1.5 hour drive up to sac netted me a 75bd last week. They had a lot of different handguns in stock; I would call first and leave a message - they are busy and don't answer the phones very often.

California shooting sports in modesto had a cz75b (or whatever the 9mm is I don't know much about cz). I think the first number was a 5 so its $500 somethin dollars. Also it was used. If you're not opposed to other calibers try a .45, I see ammo wherever I go, but never 9mm

you were in the marine corps, and you want a 9mm?
                          get a marine caliber. 45acp.

Man, I feel sad that you had to "beg" to buy a gun... But at least the warden finally cleared you and gave you the go ahead lol if you cant find what you want in stores check gun broker.com... you'll have to pay transfer fees but at least you get what you want. Just make sure its on the Ca approved gun roster. Welcome to calguns and thank you for your service
