    Talon Grips

I just wanted to post about these for anyone that hasn't heard of them.

Backstory is that as much as I love my Springfield XD-S the aggressive grip texture that the designed the pistol with was just too much. On a cold day at the range my hand was in absolute agony after 5 mags. Started considering grip reduction/resurfacing as a possible solution, but I really didn't want to because I think that pistols end up looking like garbage/complete trash after polymer frame modification. I found these guys while searching online for a slip on grip. It's an adhesive grip overlay, offered in rubberized or granulated (textured seems a lot like standard grip tape to me) and for $15 I figured I would give it a try.

Installation is as simple as applying a sticker, I used my heat gun to make it mold and conform to the factory grip texture/shape as best as I could. Took it to the range this morning, was almost as cold in there as the day that I thought the gun had taken skin off my hand. Suffice to say that it made a huge difference. I was able to put a box and a half of ammo through the gun, and still shot several other pistols after. The rubberized texture gives the added grip that you need for the pistol to stay firmly planted in your hand, but it isn't overly aggressive and you don't feel like you might end up loosing some skin while shooting it.

Talongungrips.com is their website. I'll be placing another order with them soon, buying a set for my S&W Shield when it arrives and a set for my GF's G26.

I'll post a pic of the gun with the grip installed in a bit, but I am sure you can find plenty of pics on their site to show what they look like. Hope this helps anyone else out there with a XD-S that finds their grip a bit too aggressive.

Love my Talon Grips! I've been using them for a few years on all my Gen 3 Glocks! I sanded down the grips so it would make for a more comfortable carry when in contact with skin.

I've got some for M&P .45 and Shield... have yet to install - but I like the feel of the rubber texture.

Cheap, pretty quick shipping and is cut well.

the T is very small... hardly noticeable... but even if it were, it wouldn't bother me.

pretty thin - I'm not sure of the mm, but similar to grip tape (on a skateboard).

It may be too thick for cc (which is why I haven't put on my Shield yet) depending on what type of concealment you use.

It wont add much girth to the grip - not to the extent that you can't grip it comfortably.

If it added any thickness or girth to my gun I can't tell. They are extremely thin, without having it here to measure, less than 1/10th of a millimeter. Didn't affect my ability to conceal my XD-S at all. Definitely a heck of a lot less girth than putting a hogue slip on grip added to my GF's G26. It isn't like these are going to add palm swells to the grip of your pistol, just going to give you a better texture to help keep the gun firmly planted in your hand.
