Both guns have a proved track record, but you can also find videos of both failing to fire. IMHO both are good guns and neither is better than the other. They are based on different design principles.
Don't know about Glock 19 being cheaper than the 92FS. My LGS has Glocks for $599 or so and 92FS for $650. If you can find a Glock 19 now it will probably be pretty expensive.
I do like XD's as I used to own a HS2000. They are around $460 at my LGS. Trigger on new XD's are way better but different from the Beretta. Striker fire vs Hammer fire.
Get what you like. With so many different nice guns to choose from, why settle for function alone?Comment

I never had a malfunction in my G19 with anyone that I let shoot it. I guess we all know the correct way to hold a handgun. My cousin does like my Baer TRS better though, but who wouldn't.

I agree... I dig the Barretta Double Single Action Feature and its long barrel. I also like its aluminum and metal frameBoth guns have a proved track record, but you can also find videos of both failing to fire. IMHO both are good guns and neither is better than the other. What if you were smack by a bear and you have to shoot your Glock at a certain angle... and it misfired due to your hand not positioning it correctly for the slide to rack completely? I just don't like that odd.Comment

You mention wanting your wife to shoot it. Before you decide on a gun, why don't the both of you try handling them to see which one you like first? Everyone here has an opinion. The only thing that matters is how the gun feels and performs for you (and her).Comment

Like the video said, it's all about training and knowing your gun. I've shot my Glocks in some pretty awkward positions without issue.Comment

And this is why the last gun I'll own when I'm old is going to be my revolver...Comment

It's a non issue. My 14 year old daughter has run several hundred rounds thru this Glock 19 I built for her. No problems even shooting one handed. Never a malfunction and still runs 100%.
Before the G19, she hogged my 1992 GEN2 Glock 17. No problems with that weapon either.
Seriously, if a problem existed 70% of the Police Forces and Militarys around the world wouldn't choose GLOCK handguns. Your wife won't have an issue either. You can get any slide operated handgun to wimp out on you. Even a Beretta.

19.
But consider I have 5 kids (4 who are adults, one left at home) and some of my gun collection is scattered among them.....
They all grew up with guns, reloading, shooting and they all own several guns as well as the guns dad gave them.
Sometimes they invade my reloading Den and reload a bunch of ammo, using up my components....arrrggg...
(I don't mind)

I think the issue also has to do with grip angle, and large grips. Although
i never had a problem with my glock, i noticed the glock grips are larger then others i have in my collection. somebody with small hands, or someone not ready for a recoil can easily limb wrist in this case. I also prefer a gen 2 glock for this reason. I do not like built in finger grooves, if i want them i'll had a handall grip.
Sigh... i remember the days when i could pop off rounds like that without
a care in the world.sigpic
