ar pistol question

hello, i had a question for my build, ar pistol from an 80%. i was at a gun store and another person said that i have to engrave my id # on to the lower because its a pistol. is this true? thanks

AFG is legit per atf.. I have this bookmarked on my smartphone just in case I am out with my pistol and it goes into question..
