    any opinion on taurus pistols?

i've been looking into getting a glock 30 .45 but been researching these past couple of weeks and the taurus cought my eye. doing a lot of research on the 24/7 pro .45 acp and heard nothing but good things about them. should i jump in and get the taurus 24/7 pro? do not hear much about taurus pistols on here much at all. will be my main range gun/plinker gun and occasional to rare ccw. how does it fare with the glock 30? want to hear from personal experience not from some internet junkie who's been reading from other ppls opinion on the internet. being that the 24/7 has been nra pistol of the year in 2005 it must be a good pistol right?

Glock. My experience with Taurus PT92 has me never wanting a Taurus again.

The only problem was the Taurus literally threw rounds all over the place out of the box.

The Glock 21 and 30 proved to be some of my most favored guns.

Sorry no experience with the 24/7.

I had one of the OG Taurus PT-92; the one with the magazine release on the lower left side of the grip. I owned it for about 3.5 years and put about 3000 trouble free rounds through it. One of the best guns I've ever owned.

I have also owned their revolvers and those too have been trouble free.

I just added the 709 Slim and the 738 TCP to the list of Taurus that I have owned.

I haven't shot them yet but I'm planning on going to the range tomorrow.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I have a PT-99 with adjustable sights and I love it. Probably 5k rounds thru it so far. I have just now run. into the apparently common problem with the adjustable sight breaking though. Called Taurus and they said too bad, guess their warranty doesn't cover sights. Dropped it off at Duncan's in the hopes they can get it fixed, don't want to get rid of it...

To those who say the quality is on par with Smith and Wesson is WRONG. I like taurus because you get alot for your money. Nothing wrong with the guns at all but your not going to get the same fit and finish as you would with a more popular gun maker such as glock.

I have a taurus 605 as my trunk gun, shot the 24/7 at the range plenty of times. If i compare my 605 to my smith and wesson 686+p it is no contest. The lock up and smoothness of trigger is worlds apart. But that doesn't mean taurus is a bad gun, if we look at the price taurus is more affordable.

In other words, Taurus doesn't really supass any of the big makers, but it also doesn't fall short of reliability. Try it first, if you like it buy it, if you think "longer then a day about it" hold off and get yourself the glock first.

I had a Taurus a number of years ago. Unreliablie, not terribly accurate, just bad juju all around.

I've decided that I'd rather have a pointed stick than a Taurus.

I have a raging bull and a pt92. The bull had to be returned for repairs, the PT 92 is good. Machining is not as good as S&W and Baretta counter parts that the guns were based on but it's a lot cheaper too.
As for reliability, I think they are fine. The fit and finish is not top notch imo though.

I have a Taurus 617 titanium 357 snub and it is excellent. The trigger is a little heavy, but fires everytime. I also have a Taurus pt 1911 AR, and with a little work and breaking in, it is excellent. Also their customer service is great. The 24/7 has won numerous gun of the years awards.

I'm go ahead and buy it in a few weeks to a couple of months and will give it a review on it. I'm sure I won't be dissapointed especially with its price

I'll say this. I bought my first handgun, a PT-99, in 1992. I've still got it.
And unlike amoril, Taurus' warranty covered the sights on my PT-101. Took them forever, but they sent me a whole new upper.

Never had a problem with any Taurus. Have owned one of their snubbies and one of their single stack 9mm pistols. Both were adequately accurate and reliable.
