Recommendations for 1911 22lr conversion kit

Get a dedicated one... If you like the 1911 platform, get the GSG .22LR for around $100 more than the Kimber kit.

Slides/frames suffering from premature cracks?

I have a GSG conversion kit. It was on sale for Black Friday at PSA, so I jumped on it. So far, it is picky with ammo after about 50 rounds or so. When it is clean and freshly-oiled, it runs great. As soon as it gets a little dirty, it seems to "gum up" and start giving me problems. Tried a couple different brands of .22 and it was getting failures to feed, failures to push the slide far enough back to lock the hammer, and stovepipes. Only the last 3-4 rounds of the mag were somewhat "reliable". Haven't tried CCI (only because you can't really find it anywhere these days), but I'm sure I'd have had better luck. Going to take it out again this weekend and see if it was just a break-in thing.

A friend of mine has the GSG 1911 .22 lr and has not had any issues with premature cracks on slide/frame... This is after 1,000+ rds.

Advantage arms kit. Only issue with mine has been the ammo. They recommend rgb but I get numerous duds. Minimags run 100%

I'd go with a dedicated 1911-22, the new gsg has had some modification to prevent the frame cracking, but I'd also add some cw accessories, mainly the guide rod kit. Some ppl get a lot of FTF, FTE and i think that is due to the fact that the factory paint is thick as hell on the slide rails, so toy can polish those a bit with fine sandpaper to mechanically simulate ware, (just remove the paint, not material) and you'll be fine

I have two Marvel Unit 1 conversions. One came with a test target of 0.415 inches at 50 yards and the other at 0.566 inches at 50 yards. They are both extremely accurate and I use them for bullseye.

I also have an Advantage Arms Target .22 conversion. Even though it claims to be a target model, it is nothing more than a plinker. Not even close to the accuracy of the Unit 1 Marvel. Probably more like a Unit 2 Marvel. The slide locks back on an empty mag, which the older Marvel does not do.

If you want something to practice action shooting, the Advantage Arms is what I would get.
