Given up my search for a Glock 19...for now

yup, as many of you know, it's impossible to find a glock 19 anywhere in SoCal. I put an order in at the glockstore.com last week and who knows when a new shipment will arrive. i've officially stopped looking for the time being. a few people mentioned getting the guard card and buying from proforce in brea but someone posted on the forum that you can't even get the glock 19 with magazines because they remove the 15 mags that come with it. haven't called proforce to verify, but decided not to pursue that route.

so i joined the oak tree gun club today after checking it out last weekend. i signed up for the yearly membership and it includes free gun rentals so i will take advantage of that until new glock 19 start arriving again. today i shot the 17 and 19 and really like the 19. it is nice to shoot different guns and i'll be checking out some other calibers too since renting is free with my membership.

BTW i called enterprise in irwindale this morning based on another thread and they had one glock 19c in stock and one 17.

Go for the 19c. It's just a 19 with the ported barrel and slide. If you hate the blast, then spend $100 and get a Lone Wolf non-ported barrel and voila, you have a Glock 19.

then i'm spending more for a gun i don't want to convert the barrel and i don't like the look of the ported slide that i would still be left with

Patience is a virtue my friend.

Wait out the insanity and then get what you want. Good decision on the G19.

Might as well wait for prices to die down. Can't find ammo to shoot it with anyways.

I'm also going to wait it out. Good deals can be found locally, no need to order from out of state.

Keep searching I was on a hunt for a glock 17 for about 3 weeks and was able to find one local for retail brand new. Scan cal guns for tips and forget about the larger "chain" gun stores mom and pop stores along with local indoor ranges is the ticket.

                Good luck in your search.

Very true. I found my G17 at a small store last week. All the large stores had waiting lists, with no idea of when they would get more inventory.

Really? I get that you wouldn't be allowed to have the hi-cap mags; but, I don't see why they would sell it without any mags at all. I bought my blue-label Glock 19 from an LEO dealer and they happily swapped the hi-cap mags out for the regular 10-round ones.

19c are harder to come by. if you get it you can trade it for a regular 19 anytime.

Op: I echo the above sentiments almost to a tee. The only change I would make is going with a G23. I am enamoured with mine. Stock with Meprolight sights. What can I say? The brief and storied history of the 40tho S&W cartridge has appeal to me and the Glock platform is just the launcher to exploit it. haha.

Much respect to my brothers in Glock polymer regardless of caliber chosen. I'm especially taking my hat off to those of you who have Glocks in the practical calibers, per se. Therein, you have the most practical platform in the world wedded to the most practical 9mm, 40SW, and .45ACP.

ps. To any 1911 owners reading this. Much respect to you as well. We all have to stick together and I'm in the same boat as the OP as I want a plain jane Springfield Mil Spec and I can't find one anywhere. Can you say FFL ?

                          haha. I knew you could.

+1. Sometimes I regret building out my Glock 9mm collection. If I had it to do all over again, I would buy all of the .40 Glocks and get the 9mm barrel conversion for each. It would be like getting 8 Glocks for the price of 5.

What is a 1993-1994 NIB Glock 19 worth?

I know someone whom bought a Glock 19 for an investment 20 years ago. Last time I saw it, it was still New in Box.
