Shipment update - it should arrive at the LGS on Valentine's Day - sweet! It supposedly has only had 150 or so rds run through it.

Guys that own one, my first order of business is to pull the slide, give the gun a good cleaning and oil it up. Any other recommendations for pre-range maintenance? Anything that I should check for? What grease do you find works best on the slide?

Nice purchase! The P228 was my duty weapon for 12 years.

When I took a Sig armorer course, the instructor recommended TW25, but any oil will work. I used mostly ballistol, since it's what I have at work.

I recommend medium Slide Glide. Sigs like to be run wet compared to Glocks.

P228 is, for me, the best shooting, most accurate 9mm I've ever shot.

Thanks gents. Don't know if the wife will let you all come over but I will post photos asap. I told my wife that I bought it for her (knowing that it would be too wide for her hands). I guess I'll have to keep it and buy her something else.

Signed the 228 into jail today. She's a lady in waiting, but I did give her a good fondling before locking her up. All I can say is, Wow! That is the lightest, easiest handling gun I've ever felt. It's as if it is a part of your arm. Absolutely amazing.

Sorry to blabber on about this, but I haven't bought a gun in 25 yrs. It's almost like getting laid for the first time. Um, well, maybe not.

Well, I made it through the wait and the background check. I guess I'm not as much of a hoodlum as I thought. I'll have to work on that.
