    Inbound - Sig P228

I got the shipping details today. It's an all German born model coming from the East Coast, heading to my LGS. Had to order CA legal mags, which weren't easy to find. Now, the compounded wait begins - shipping, then jail.

Congrats! The wait is long, but well worth it. Great choice!

Great aquisition. They are very hard to come by and increasing in value. IMHO the BEST 9mm carry gun out there ( The Feds think so too) with superb balance.

The P228 has to one of the best combat 9mm's ever made. Its balance is what sets it apart from the rest. Well built and you can feel it. It just feels well engineered when you hold it. Congrats.

Shipment update - it should arrive at the LGS on Valentine's Day - sweet! It supposedly has only had 150 or so rds run through it.

Guys that own one, my first order of business is to pull the slide, give the gun a good cleaning and oil it up. Any other recommendations for pre-range maintenance? Anything that I should check for? What grease do you find works best on the slide?

                            Thanks.

You can do the "pencil test" and make sure the firing pin safety works, also make sure the grip screws are not loose.

If you don't know about the pencil test:

Also do a function check: http://sigtalk.com/sig-sauer-pistols...sig-da-sa.html

Sig Sauer has some good maintenance guides and videos here: http://www.sigsauer.com/CustomerServ...nceGuides.aspx
