RIA 1911

This is my first post here. I been looking at getting a rock island 1911. I know this isn't the best market, I been to 3 shops and the cheapest tactical I can find $625. Just wondering if anyone on here has seen them lower in price at any shops is the SF Bay Area? Or is this a good price?

2011 tactical or 1911 tactical? $625 would be ok for a 2011 tactical, but too much for a regular tactical.

Too bad you're not further south, as my local Turner's has the GI and 'Tac models in stock. Hang in there, gun things are starting to pop up again...

Normally the RIA Tactical model is + or - $500. I think I paid just under that about a year ago when I bought one at Targetmasters in Milpitas. The 2011 Tac model is off-roster and would have to be SSE'd or some other loophole used to get one and I have no idea what they cost. Good luck.

If you can wait till the market calms down just wait. If you can't, that's probably the best price you can in this environment. You can also check the marketplace.

Elite Arms in Manteca has them at normal price, but coming from SF you'd eat some of the savings in gas and time.

Thanks for all the respones. I am looking for the 1911 tac. I do travel all over northern california for work. I can easily go to elite arms in manteca im sure ill be out that way this week for work. In the end if i can't find one ill wait till things calm down.

Well, remember, it's not as easy as "I'll be passing by for a week". If you buy something, you have to go in person to start the DROS paperwork, then come back in 10 days to pick it up.

Oh and another thing. Sure, try and get the best price you can, but seriously, shooting has ongoing expenses that will far outweigh the purchase price of the gun. Ammo and range time can easily make the purchase price a forgotten quantity. Honestly, I can't remember what I paid for my RIA Tactical (1911, no rail). I do enjoy it though. Did I get a good deal? I can't recall, but since I like it, I think it's good that I have it.

Well here's some news for ya. This is quoted from the CEO of Armscor.

1. It's election time in the PI. For those in the PI they will understand this part very well. For all the people in the rest of the world elections in the PI effect you as well.
During elections in the PI the government bans the carry and transportation of firearms. Armscor needs to file for its exemptions which we did before Jan 13. Not a single exemption was signed till last Friday. The system is fixed now. Guns are finally coming after 3 weeks of no shipping. Good news it's a lot of guns.

2. Great News for Filipinos. The Firearms bill is going to the president for his signature. This is the closest the PI will get to having firearms rights. We don't have the second amendment to protect us. I will continue the fight for gun rights to see what else we can do to provide the Filipino people with rights to protect their families and against tyrannical governments.
Congratulations to the Filipino people. Almost 3 years to get this bill through.
What this means for Americans who want my guns? Stability in my business. Which means quicker growth with confidence that my business won't be taken away by some chief of police or president.

Target master in militias has a GI RIA for $529 (don't quote me on this price but I believed this is what I seen last Thursday)

first off, welcome to calguns brother. Second the way things are in this panic you will rarely find a gun that has not been marked up... there aren't that many Yzernies out there that look out for the customer and not their pockets so if you see something even if its 100 bucks more I would buy it. All these guys that are saying wait already have lots of guns and holding out means nothing to us. But for a guy with no protection then I would say buy the gun and protect your family...if you already have a nice pile of guns and you're just new to this site and not to guns then I would maybe say shop around...but if its something that you really want I would just buy it because waiting in this panic market you will lose something and not be able to get it back... I said to myself I will wait to get 22lr...its always available I will just get one brick of federal bulk 525.. PSA 17.99 for 525 rounds... that very box now costs between 50-100 bucks depending on where you find it. thats my .02. hope things work out for you brother.
