    HELP!! Messed up on GB...

Okay, so I run across the gun that I've been waiting for, and I hurriedly sign up
and register on GB.com. I placed a bid, forgetting that the gun I want expires
off the roster tonight at midnight, and the auction runs for almost six days.

How can I extricate myself out of this? I didn't mean to do this and am totally
    innocent of any intentional wrongdoing.

Do I have any kind of recourse? Thanks for any help...

    Jim

Nope....your only hope is a higher bidder. It was on you to know when the gun expired off list, not the seller. Unfair for seller to be harmed for your oversight.

Try to call seller and explain...but it's their option not requirement.

Or find a shop that will do a SSE or something of the sort for you.

What gun is it? Are you sure it will actually expire, maybe they didnt update recently.

This is why the roster is retarded. Expiration date? If it's the same gun, it's not going to be any less or more safe at the date. Purely administrative deal with no relation to public safety.

Then again, the roster was just some thinly veiled attempt at harassing gun owners from the get go.

What kind of gun is it though? odds are if you didn't put down a nuclear bid and it's something that's not too unpopular, you'll get outbid. Or just see if you can work out a bid retraction
Once a bid is placed, you may not cancel or retract the bid without the permission of the seller. The seller is not obligated to grant permission to retract or cancel a bid, and this Site will not request permission from the seller for a bid retraction or cancellation on your behalf. Any bid cancellation must be worked out between bidder and seller without assistance from the Site.

Offer to pay the listing fees and a certain agreed amount to compensate the seller for trouble. I've done the same thing. You can also look into doing an SSE if possible.

I placed a bid on GB last week and hit an 8 instead of a 6 making my bid 200 bucks higher. I contacted the seller and let him know it was a simple mistake. He was cool about it.

Letting them know you are not going to be able to go through with the bid beforehand is a lot better than springing it on them after the auction is over.

Most out of state sellers on GB will gladly NOT ship to California. Hopefully your seller backs out just because you want it shipped here.

contact the seller and let him know the problem. I am sure he will understand and cancel your bid. Just be honest.

Talk to seller, but it is on you. Not the seller's problem. If you back out without the seller's blessing, it will be a lifetime ban from gunbroker. They don't mess around with deadbeat bidders.

just level with the seller, he can't ship it to you anyway so i am sure he will cancel the transaction without hassle...

Send the seller a link to the CA DOJ site so he can see it for himself?

Pay the fee to keep it listed on the roster.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.
