I would recommend that for your first Glock, it be a Glock 19. Down the road, you will own the 26, but you should get the 19 first. If you can learn to shoot a Glock 19 proficiently, you will have little trouble shooting any other handgun. I have experience with a lot of polymer handguns, and like the Ruger SR9 for example, they just lack a little something something.. either they start cracking in weird areas, or the trigger pull just ain't right, or maybe it's the reset.. whatever it is, the Glock 19 is the s***. It just runs & runs, eats up whatever, has the best trigger (my opinion, of course), and if something ever does happen to break.. it's usually a three dollar part that's widely available. Glock 19, man.

Thanks Tal3nt, but I've actually decided to go with the Glock 23. Started buying mags/ammo already, just waiting for the gun to be in stock at a local store (about a week or two).

Not a bad choice either! And you can always get a conversion barrel for 9MM. Sorry, I don't know if all that has been discussed already...

OP if this is your first handgun, why do you like the reliability of Glocks? It would seem you don't have any basis for comparison, so I don't think that should factor into your decision.

Most modern semi automatic handguns are highly reliable with quality ammo.

If you want reliable, get a revolver.
