    XD trigger!

I was searching to replace an old 9mm that I sold many years ago. Looked at PX40, P99, P2000, and a few others. I remember the trigger on the HS2000 was very very long so I didn't want a XD9, but after trying out the trigger, I bought the 5" model. Was there a redesign or something? I last shot a XD not too long ago at the range and the trigger was exactly what I remember of the HS2000 to be. At the LGS I was able to play with several pistols at the same time comparing their triggers and would say the XD trigger is almost as nice as the P2000, but at half the cost. There are many online reviews trashing the XD trigger saying it's long and gritty. Am I missing something? There is a lot of knowledge and experience on this forum and wanted to get your inputs!

I prefer Glock, but XD handguns are nice as well.

The XD trigger has a lot of takeup, decent break, and a LONG reset. All told, it's not a horrendous trigger...just tough to drive hard and accurately in competition. If you don't mind spending a little extra money, put in this kit to make the trigger MUCH better:

After 500 + rounds my trigger is good . I hated it at first . No need for me to change it now.

Thank you! I will check this out! Too bad my XD is not even in jail yet. Have to wait another couple of week before DROS.

Is it possible that XD's now have this stock on their guns? It is Springfield OEM part right? The XD9 that I bought had very little takeup and shorter reset unlike the older models that I've fired.

No idea what people are talking about. My XD40's trigger is like a dream for a stock polymer pistol. Reset Isn't the best, but the initial break is great. Better than a glock any day (the break)

Every stock XD I have shot has been pretty similar. Note that the trigger was improved with the XDm, but you usually don't see those in California.

Again, the stock trigger isn't horrible if you are planning the gun to be a competition setup, but it is definitely possible to significantly improve it (and, I hate to over-sell the upgrade, but the improved trigger feels really good).

The trigger on my XD got a lot smoother after 500.

If the trigger is one of your top features for a gun, then look no further than the Walther PPQ. Out of the box, smokes all the striker-fired polymer guns. Do yourself a favor and look into it.

I wanted a p99 for the longest time. Had the chance to shoot one at the range. The trigger felt very hard in DA and even in SA, it was almost too hard to pull. The travel was super short and the break was very clean, but the trigger weight was just too much for me. I shot a lot of hand guns and the trigger on the P99 felt unusually heavy to me. Don't know if I got a p99 that needed to be broken in or what. Talked to two separate smith and they both said that's how the P99s are. I read so many amazing reviews on the trigger but had the opposite experience. Am I missing something?

I have an XD40 4". The trigger felt natural from the beginning and has become more comfortable to me as I've shot it. I don't have a ton of experience, but in this price range I think it's an excellent choice.

No experience with the P99, but the PPQ trigger is light and smooth at around 5lbs. Some people even complained that it is too light for ccw. If the P99 is a range rental then I am not sure if the trigger is gritty and heavy. I've seen how they clean range rentals at a local range once, they spray the whole gun with CLP and wipe it down.
