Colt Detective Special- what's it worth

Saab this 1986 Colt Detective Special.38 Snubby at a new gun shop inCalifornia. This thing looked new, but has been fired. It's blued and looks to be 98% condition. Has no box or paperwork. He's asking $900 and he's firm and wont negotiate on the price. My wife likes it and mentioned she would like it for Valentines day. Please advice.
I don't have the blue book yet, so that's why I'm posting this.

Great gun but not worth $900.

As described $450 to $500 IMHO.

They pop up here in that condition every once in a while. I personally wouldn't go a penny over $700 given that you can get one in decent shape for $500 or less. Its certainly not a Python or a colt that supports a large premium like he is asking.

On the other hand it's not my job to keep your wife happy...

If you can get it for $700 that's probably fair in that condition, in this state.

If you buy it make sure that the person tickles you and gets you excited about it.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Do you want a safe queen or are you plan on shooting the gun. Used looking ones go for $300-400.
