    Best .22lr Ammunition?

I've fired a few brands of .22lr, but havn't really kept track of accuracy and reliability. I usually get PMC high velocity, but I would have multiple jams and FTF every 30-50 rounds.

Last time I hit the range I brought a brick of Wolf Match and it fired flawlessly. Zero jams, zero FTF, and I was pretty consistant at 50yd (I'm not the most experienced of shooters). My only gripe is that there was black residue literally caked inside the chamber and speckled throughout the entire gun including the mag-well...then again, maybe it's because I fired off all 500rnds.

Maybe my gun doesn't like PMC, or it's just bad ammo; in any case, what is the best .22lr ammunition you've had experience with?

FYI: I searched the forum; however, I was unable to locate a thread that specifically answered my question.

My favorite 2 kinds of .22 ammo are:

    General shooting - CCI minimags
Always reliable, works in everything, good accuracy.

Accurate shooting - SK Standard - claimed to be the same as Wolf Match Target, at $25/brick

I love this stuff - it gives me the smallest groups of any .22 ammo in both rifles and pistols, and is as accurate as ammo costing twice as much.

At outdoormarksman.com, shipping's expensive for small amounts, but goes up slowly, so I usually buy a few bricks of .22 when I'm stocking up on cases of centerfire ammo, and it's reasonable shipping.

Never use the Agulia ammo, I bought 3 boxes of it at a gunshow and everyother round had a missfire .

I know I am about get my rear hind chewed but after shooting for many years, I seperate ammo into two types. The kind that loads and shoots and the kind that doesnt. When it comes to ammo that does load and shoot well, I have never felt any ammo be more accurate. Granted, my shooting is tactical, not competition. I won't spend money on ammo that would give me 1/2 MOA better performance. Most tactical scenarios are at ranges less than 50 meters. I have seen that most MOA issues revolve around that hand that shoots the handgun/rifle and not that ammo, so thats where I focus.
I just got a bunch on 22LR ammo at walli world. 550 rounds for $8 bucks, no issues what so ever.

The funny thing about .22 rimfire guns is they all like different brands of ammo. You have to try some of them to see what your gun likes.

I'll second that, every .22 has a life of it's own and will shoot with wildly varying groups with different brands and types of ammo. Soem gusn shoot great with cheap ammo and soem with expensive you have to try as many different ones as you can find and then determine which is right for your gun. Pistols seem to be even more finicky than rifles.

I've had excellent results using Winchester Dynapoint bulk packs. I've used it in my 10/22, CZ452, Ruger MKIIs, IZH35M, Taurus 63, Henry Golden Boy, and Beretta 70s. It got subdime groups at 50 yards with the Dynapoints out of my FrankenRuger. The stuff shoots like a champ. The Wolf MT is great, but it doesn't extract from my CZ!! The Dynapont shoots relatively clean as well. The worst I've used is that bulk park reminton stuff. Dirty and inaccurate. Federal has been ok for me as well.

Most of the guys at Rimfirecentral.com seem to like the Wolf Match .22... As much as I hate Wolf ammo, the Match .22 has a huge following, so do CCI Stingers/MiniMags.

My last 10/22 loved the Remmy Goldens... but many people have problems with it.

My Walther P22 LOVES CCI Stinger. It doesn't work too well in my 10/22's though. I stocked up on CCI cause it gets HARD to find if you come 3 hours late to a gun show and isn't cheap if you get it at big 5.

My remington loves the goldens (1'' or better at 75 yards) but I can't find them any more

I'm using american eagle by federal 40gr. Very good, reliable stuff. 400 rounds for $12 @ Turners. Stay away from Remington, especially the bulk 550 they sell at walmart. I was shooting them and cases were splitting in half due to double loads. I finally threw all my Remingtons away when one exploded in my Stevens model 30 single shot, the case literaly disintegrated, I dropped my rifle, burnt my face, and I lost my hearing for the day (ya, I know I should have been wearing hearing protection, but it was a .22 rifle, never loud at all) at least I had shooting Glasses on.

The Wolf .22 ammo is make by Jager in Germany. It's not the crappy Russian stuff. I bought several bricks of the Wolf target ammo before it got popular at around 15 bucks a brick. Now the price is at least double.

Aguila SE is also very good ammo, although the quality has been inconsistent lately. You can get a case from www.coledistributing.com for $100 plus shipping.

I also like PMC Scoremaster. It's the standard velocity stuff. I picked up my last couple of bricks at Turners for $16.

Which Aguila have you guys been having issues with? They make several types of .22LR...
