    1911's

It seems that I have an incurable disease. I recently bought a blue, series 80
Government model, which brings my 1911 collection up to 5. All Colts. I figured that was enough. But, OH NO. I still want a S&W 1911 and I just saw an ad, in the American Rifleman, for a SIG 1911. Two tone stainless slide, dark frame, either matte blue or dark stainless and white grips. I want it too!

You're doing exactly what I'm doing. My past 4-5 purchases were 1911s. I have an officer's size, commander sized, and two full size. Let the 5th one go.

All of em are different brands though.

Yup, I know what you mean. I'm at 6; though all different makes. I too, just can’t resist the beauty that is the 1911. My wife looked in my safe the other day and asked me why I have 6 of the same gun. I told her that I was like her collection of shoes, each one fills a different need. I was actually amazed that she accepted that. I’ve been really looking at some of the recent ads for vintage pieces. Oh my, I think I may need another 1911 fix soon.

I say starve a cold and feed the 1911 disease.
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.

                1911's

I just got off the SIG site and the Platinum Elite is Not CA compliant. Oh well.
But I had another look at the S&W site. There are two that I'd love to have.
I'd settle for either one. The 150102 Which is a polised nickel frame, matte stainless slide witk black pearlite grips. DROOOOOOL. The other is the 102185
Plain matte black. No forward serrations. I also want an Officer's ACP size pistol. I've got lots of trading material if anyone has any of those, that they're willing to part with. I agree with Bear. Starve a cold and OVERFEED the 1911 disease!

I have 6 ... 2 SA full size one mil spec, one just above that, the mil spec has been converted into a gas gun..., 1 kimber gold cup, 1 kimber cdp II pro (4in), 1 cdp I officer size..., one colt combat commander. They all shoot differentlly. The cdp II pro is my favorite and the one I shoot best.

I love 1911s but a Kimber and Les Baer is enough for me. I for some reason am starting to lean towards big caliber revolvers.

Two Series 70 Colt Combat Commander .45acp compensated pin guns (if anyone knows what that is anymore, 1 being my first 1911 about 30 years ago)
                      Colt Service Ace .22
                      Colt Series 70 Gold Cup
Colt Series 80 Combat Commander in .38 super
                      Colt Officers Model LW
                      WW2 1911A1 Govenment Model
Two Kimber Custom Shop Super Match II's
                      Kimber Ultra CDP II

                      Guess that makes 10.

                      I also have 2 S&W model 25's and a 625.

I have more 1911's than AR's...it is a sickness....but for me, now it's only Colt's and Customs (meaning brands like Nighthawk, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Les Baer, etc.) I only have two non-Colt's/Customs left in my collection...a Dan Wesson CBOB and a Springer (which I'm selling).

Don't worry, just feed the addiction for a few years and eventually it will subside. You will become satiated and have a safe full of 1911s, then you will gradually move on to something else, like Colt SAAs, old S&W revolvers, or Sigs. I went through a 1911 period myself and still have about 8 of them, but I haven't bought any for a couple of years.

I also like tortilla chips, but can only eat so many before I don't want any more.

Sad to say that I only have six 1911s (7 if you count the .17 conversation upper)

About the same for different S&W revolvers (eight). I just bought my first Colt SAA and was told when I bought it that it wouldn't be my last... and I am sure that's true.

The one thing that has saved me from any hassle from friends/women is that simple comparison of women and their shoes. Although with one friend who didn't have very many shoes I had to compare my collection to her sweater collection (that fills 3 large closets last time I looked). Her purses also tend to run over $1000 EACH so I don't every catch any crap from her about dropping money on firearms!
If you know how many guns you have... you don't have enough guns.

People need to remember that the same guys who wrote the 1st Amendment, also wrote the 2nd Amendment... and for the same exact reasons.
