    Can I do this?

Purchase an upper section of a Ruger Mk II or III pistol from a private party from out of state and have it shipped to me? Just the upper without the bolt.

Isn't that the part with the serial #? If so it would have to go through an FFL.

Ruger rimfire pistols are fixed barrel guns and the serial number is on the receiver, not the frame. So if you found someone selling just the upper receiver, less the bolt, it would still have to go thru an FFL in CA. And most likely they wouldn't do it anyway because the DOJ requires transfer of a 'complete' gun for pistols. The MK II/III and 22/45's are not that expensive, just buy the complete gun. There is like 70 plus on gunbroker.com

You looking at a Tac Solution upper end? Yeah... those are hard to come by since they're not roster. Also can't do a SSE... sucks both ways.

Actually I was hoping for the 6.8" fluted barrel of the hunter which is on roster but very hard to come by. Or the 10" MkII bull barrel they sometimes call KMKII?

The TacSol barrels are nice too but I gave up on those. Looks like I'll have to give up on these as well.

So, is the one you were trying to get sent to you the 6.8" Hunter that is on the roster?

If so than buy it. Have it sent to your LGS for transfer. You will need to pay them a transfer fee, sales tax and DROS but you'll have your gun.

No need to give up if it's on the roster.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Unfortunately, the one I found wasn't a hunter.

A guy on the rimfire forum in Texas has a few 10" bull barrel ruger uppers to sell. I figured I could make myself a long barrel ruger if I could get 1 of those uppers, swap in my mk iii bolt and lower.
