Okay, best I tell you about my situation ... I live in the Bay Area and have just agreed to purchase a firearm through a private party transfer with someone in the Los Angeles area. I know I'm gonna have to drive down to do this PPT face to face at a FFL. My question is ... Will I have to drive down again 10 days later to pick her up or has anyone ever gotten a FFL to ship a firearm to another FFL closer to home after the 10 day period. I would really like to avoid having to drive down a second time.

yes, you will need to drive down twice. It might be worth paying the seller to drive up to you, that way only one long drive needs to be down.
No, you won't be able to find 2 FFLs willing to do a split-PPT for you, and CADOJ will tell everyone that split-PPTs aren't legal.
what firearm are you buying? if it is a rifle on a rostered handgun, just have the seller ship it to your local FFL. even if you have to pay around a$75 transfer fee since it isn't a PPT, you'll still save on gas. now, for an off-roster handgun, you'd need to do a PPT unless you could have the handgun converted into a single-shot exempt configuration.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
No posts of mine are to be construed as legal advice, which can only be given by a lawyer. -
Jack is on to something here. Make it worth while for the seller to drive north. If not all the way at least in the middle somewhere.yes, you will need to drive down twice. It might be worth paying the seller to drive up to you, that way only one long drive needs to be down.

Yes and no.
As a non-license seller you can only make 5 transactions a year. These "transactions" can be of any number of firearms.
As a buyer there is no limit as to how many PPT you can do so long as there is no law restricting you form doing so in the location you are doing them.
I say this because the city of Los Angeles has a 1 in 30 law when it comes to PPT. That is why you should never do a PPT in the city of Los Angeles.
