Dishwasher? Will lead residue washed out from the washer?Strip it and put the parts in your dishwasher with 1/3 the amount of detergent. Skip the dry cycle. Blow it out with a compressor when it's done. Will come out squeaky clean, every time.
... and then run an empty cycle with a full load of detergent to clean out 1/2 the world that's currently in your gun.

Well, actually it's not my gun, mine are not quite that dirty. But I will have you know the owner of that gun took a 2 day class from Ken Hackathorn with his G17 in that condition. It had about 7,000 rounds thru it at that time. Mine look like this, much cleaner, after only about 10,000 rounds... The barrel has only seen about 200 rounds. I clean the bore after every match.

Oily!Don't take refuge in the false security of consensus.
What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

only if your lube gets into the firing pin chamber causing it to get sticky with grime from firing and making the pin get stuckYou can almost never over lubricate a weapon. How does over lubricating create excessive wear? The benefit of lubrication is it will help funnel crap out of the operating parts and lubricate the crap that its moving. You can run any gun dirty with enough lubrication. I personally would never go that long without cleaning my one of my weapons though. Because cleaning gives you an opportunity to inspect the parts for excessive wear and do some preventative maintenance. I hope your at least cleaning the barrel.
i recently made that mistake with my g23. it would go "click" *rack* click" *rack* "click" with no bang.Comment
