    Inter family transfer

Need some help. I read through several posts and confused myself. I live in california. My father lives in indiana. He is gifting me 2 handguns.

    Questions
    1. What do i need to do if he brings one with him? Just fill out and send in the intra-family transfer form and $19?

    2. And on the second, can he or can he not ship it to me directly as a family gift from parent to child. Or does this go to an ffl and then a ca ffl? And if ffls are involved they do paperwork correct?

And if he cant ship it direct, to confirm in another way its way easier and cheaper to have him just bring it with him correct?

I am an adult, able to own a handgun, and have the safety cert.

    Want to get this right!

    Thanks

      Read up
Since its an interstate transfer it has to go from your father to a Ca based ffl the. Into your posession

First off he could bring it but still would need and ffl, but since he lives out Of state most won't touch it since he's not an ffl holder, best bet would be shipping it, he would have to sent it from one ffl in Indiana to a ffl in California with a note saying that it is a gift and the make model serial number and relationship to you, also call around to gun shops and make sure they know how to do the transfer, and also you can only do one handgun in 30 days so he would have to send the first and 30 days later the next,

Also read this just in case I left stuff out it I worded something wrong

          Pretty much nailed it.

OP, you also need to remember that these would not be a PPT. So, what ever dealer does the transfer can and will change what ever they want. So when you're calling around to see if your LGSs understand that ALL Intrafamiliar transfers are roster exempt be sure to ask them how much they are going to charge you for their time and trouble.

          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
