Two new BULLS

Well a couple of years ago my Mom was living with my sister in MO. But, she wasn't happy and came back to CA. That time she brought me a 1911 and a FM-90.

Well last year she moved back to MO to be with my sister again. Well my Mom, sister and brother-in-law just moved back to CA.

And, Mom has done it again. Thank you Mom for all the fine guns you have given me over the last 28 or so years!

This time she asked me what I wanted for my birthday and Christmas; just 12 days apart.

I had gotten the opportunity to handle both of the small Taurus 9mm (709 Slim) and .380 (TCP 738) pistols. I really liked them both. So I added these to my wish list.

And, Mom went and did it again. She got me both of these compact handguns. Along with another really cool gun. Look for that thread too.











I've been out on the road working and I just got back home this morning. I haven't even had the time to clean my new gifts yet along shoot them. As soon as I get a chance to I will post a range report.

Congrats. Both nice guns. Used to have both in stainless. The 738 was probably the single nicest .380 pocket pistol I ever shot. The only gun I have found that was better for a compact single stack 9mm than the 709 is my Walther PPS. The trigger on the 709 is amazing. It has a lot of 'takeup' in the sense that the trigger travels the full DA distance but the pull is amazing and really light in SA and the reset is about the same as a Glock. Much better than all those guns like the Ruger LC9 that require you to let the trigger all the way back out to reset.

This is what I've read about the 709. When I travel out of state I always try to get into guns stores when I have a free min or two. When I got the chance to handle the 709 it felt really good in my hand and was very comfortable to hold. I really like that it's a SA first and DA only in case of a non-fired round to give you that second chance. The second chance feature was another thing that I really liked.

The shop that I checked out the 738 was really cool. They grabbed a snap cap and let me take some time with the trigger. It is the best DAO trigger on a .380 I've felt. And, at just over 10 ounces empty it is one of the lightest .380's out there.

I can't wait to get out and shoot them.
