M&P because I don't like the XD grip safety. Too many times I've tried pulling the trigger on an XD and nothing happens (with the way I grip it).

PS. I've disabled all the grip safeties on my 1911s.

We have a guy shooting the M&P at our Ipsc match'. The big hangup is dropping the hammer on an empty chamber. There has to be an empty mag in the gun to drop the hammer. Kind of a hassle. Need an extra empty mag in the pocket.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I just spotted one today at the Richmond Limited match! That's a damn fine pistol and it really impressed me so much that I may have to switch out my trusty G17 for it. Anyone know the best price in the Bay Area?

How about an MP9 vs a Sig P225/P6?

I went to the range today. I shot the XD, M&P, Sig Pro/2022, and a G17..

I've decided to go with the XD as it felt/shot better than the others.

              Huh?

I have 14,000+ rounds through my XD AND I am active on XDTalk.com. Never heard of the XD grip safety "locking it up tight." Not impossible since it is a moving part, but it certainly isn't a frequent problem for XD owners.

To me, the grip safety is a non-issue. I can't shoot many 1911s because I have such a high grip when coming out of the holster that I cannot de-actvitate the grip safety. Never had even the most remote problem with my XD. It is a superb design.

Both guns are very good, so you won't go wrong with either.

I posted that in response to a previous post about the M&P having issues. My point was that all pistols have issues. It happens to be the grip safety on the XD. Its not a secret, and its enough of an issue that Bar-sto is coming out with a fix. I'm sure they're not the only ones. David Bowie, who works on a lot of XDs, is also very familiar with it.

                  I'm happy with my XD9.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.
