    OK
I was hoping that it was NOS. I would love to find an original 8" & 10" with full under-lug.

The VH in the note from the factory means Vent Heavy, meaning ribbed top and a full (or heavy) lug.

I've had my Dan Wesson 715, .357 going on about 20 years. It is a fine gun. I have the following barrels for mine.
      2 1/2"
      3" (rare)
      4"
      5" (rare)
      6"
      8"
      10"
      12"

In addition I have about 10 different grips. From "small" CCW style to large target grips.

They also made 15" barrels at one point but from what I understand the will not make them any more and the stainless ones are very tough to find.

I also have a DW .22 but only have a 4" and 6" barrel. Hmmmm..... I better start working on getting some more barrels.

Ebay and Gunbroker usually have barrels, shrouds, wrenches and nuts listed. Good luck on your search.

You used to be able to get the barrels on ebay before they changed the rules a little while back, and it was a hot market. The very short and very long barrels went for quite a pretty penny.

It's good to see DW supporting them again.

        Here's my Mod 15-2VH:

He's made a couple side comments about how he'd like to have a longer barrel for the revolver, as all he does is target shoot at the range with it. I was thinking about picking him up the 8".

Different kits made in different years came with different accessories, apparently. Mine doesn't have the target grip or the patch.

No way to know if it was there originally and the original owner lost it or sewed it on to something. I've picked up spare grips and other gear, but no patch yet.

I've had a few DWs and the 8" vented (but not lugged) barrel was my favorite. Long sighting plane and good forward weight, but not too heavy. If you can find the squared off blade front sight that gives a great sight picture.

Outside CA the older DWs are pretty reasonably priced. I just sold a 1970s 15 VH pistol pac with all the extras - even had the original anti rust paper wrapping for the gun and all barrels - for $1,200.00. Sat on the gun store shelf for all of 1 day.

Mine still has the cool anti rust papers... just missing the manual. Grrrr.

I always found the 8'' Vent Heavys too front heavy for comfortable target work. The 8'' vented was nice though, although the 6" VH was my favorite. I think Dfletechers recommendation of the 8" Vented (not heavy) barrel is a good one.

I had a model 15 pistol pac in addition to my model 715 pac. I a weak moment it sold it a few years ago and have been missing it. Contra Costa Collectables had a 15 pac for quite a long time for sale for $1000. I called on Tuesday to see if it was still there but alas no....

Only 5 years ago, these things were dirt cheap - nobody cared about them. You could buy pistol pacs for $400 all day long. I got a spare 4" barrel and shroud for $30 in a Tucson gun shop just a few years ago.

Mine was $219 out the door, the whole weapon, 8" 15-2VH, beautiful blue finish, brand new. Summer 1982.
Man, a 10" barrel is now about what I paid for the whole revolver.

I just picked up my Model 15 on Friday...it came with a 6", 4", and 2.5" barrels plus the neccessary tools. It needs a little cleaning up but out the door for $300 was not a bad little deal. I shot some .38 wadcutters out of it and was amazed at the accuracy and relative lack of noise when shooting.

When I get it cleaned up I'll post some pictures in the gallery thread.
