    Dan Wesson .357 Replacement Barrels?

I've recently discovered that my fiance's father has a Dan Wesson (I believe Model 15) revolver in .357, with a 4" barrel. He has stated to me that he would love to have a longer barrel for his revolver. Now I know they make replacement barrels for these guys, but so far I've not had any luck in tracking them down (6 or 8"). I've tried Numrich (they're out of stock on just about everything DW) and I've e-mailed CZ to see if they still have them (they own Dan Wesson now, no?). Are there any other sources I should know about?

Also, will the HKS (or similar) speedloaders for a S&W L-frame fit this revolver? I know they make ones specifically for it, but I have a buddy that's willing to give them to me/him if they'll fit.

They use K frame speedloaders and I'd call them directly for barrel info. It's quite possible they have some laying around for sale!!

Remember, you actually need two pieces, a barrel and a barrel shroud.

Yup, that much I know. That and the tool, since he has no idea whether or not he actually has one. I'll be ordering the feeler guage as well.

Let us know if they have them... They have a reputation for being a great shooter. Although I don't know because I've never shot mine...

I've found a couple of places online (thehighroad and I think m1911.org) saying that they have ordered replacement barrels from them....

Contact info for DW Customer Service:

            Fax: 607-336-2730

I just gave them a ring, and the I received their after hours message (apparently they were on another line). 0700-1530 hours. I want to work there....

They do shoot very well, a friend had a .357 and I had a .44 back in the 80's. We both won our share of trophy's at the local handgun matches using them. A gunsmith friend attributed their accuracy to the barrel being supported in tension by the front nut against the shroud, basically a double shear support, but who knows.

Good news indeed. My stainless steel 6" .44 Dan Wesson is my favorite gun for range work, usually loaded with magnum cases loaded to spl levels. I'd love to own an 8 or 10" barrel for it, but her backstage says we don't need to spend no more money on @#$%^ guns

                            WhiteDingo,
Which shroud is that for? Dan Wesson made two styles; one with a half length under-lug (non vented rib) and a full under-lug (vented rib). Also, DW made a nice presentation case that held the pistol and all the barrels.
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.

If I recall correctly, all the newer barrels are the full under lug. I've e-mail Genny back to be sure.
