Why are Gen 4 Glocks banned?

Sorry for this question. It is probably something everyone else already knows, but I don't. Why can we have other Generation Glock Pistols, but not the Gen 4 here in the People's Democratic Republic of California?

What makes the Gen 4 so "evil" that it is not authorized?

I don't think "banned" is the right term to be using here. And this is not isolated to the Glock Gen 4.

Any model pistol that a manufacturer does not submit to the state for "safety" certification does not make it on the CA DOJ handgun list. Any handgun that is not listed on the list cannot be sold or purchased without some other special process (SSE), if available.

Keep in mind the certification is not free, manufacturers have to pay a fee for EACH model submitted. So it really depends on if it is worth while and if the pistol will sell well in CA for the manufacturer in order for them to consider submission.

In simple words. Not "banned". Just not "approved".

Glock made some changes to the Gen 4 that the CA DOJ said would require retesting to be listed on the roster. Problem is that they are missing "safety" features that are required to be tested.

End results: Glock Gen 4's can't be tested and there for can't be listed on the roster.

That doesn't mean you can't buy one. You could get one via PPT or SSE.

Don't know what SSE is? Read the sticky http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=383692
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

              Morning Carl.

The new standard is now a magazine safety and a loaded chamber indicator.

Gen4 Glocks don't have these features and therefore cannot be tested and approved on the safe handgun list.

However, I really love my Gen4 Glock 21 and there are several legal ways to obtain a Gen4 Glock or any other handgun not on the list.

I know I'm going off topic here.

I strongly feel that any Firearm not safe/approved by CA law for consumer sale is not safe enough for LEO issue.

                          Approved by California /= "Safe"

They can call it anything they want, but guns were fine for hundreds of years without loaded chamber indicators and magazine safeties. Just because the anti-gun government of California thinks these things are "safer" features doesn't make them so. It's just a means to further restrict the firearms that California citizens can get.
